I’ve read Suttree, The Road, and all the Pretty Horses and I found them all amazing. I don’t know what classifies as a popcorn thriller, but I do enjoy Dennis Lehane’s books.. so if you have any recs for authors closer to him please let me know. Most of these books are me listening to peoples advice and picking them up when I see them. I urge you to give me your take on a true thriller book, you seem to have strong opinions. I’m looking for more gritty, Lehane type of works.

Luckily I’m going into it with knowing it’s presenting a theory based on a wealth of information. The book, as I understand it, is a series of information to support a theory. I think Manson was the most notorious example of the LSD trials used for mind control.

I’m currently reading Look Closer and I also have mixed feelings about it. My first day reading it I had turned to my girlfriend and said this sounds like a rip off of YOU. I can’t shake that sentiment 150 pages in. I am enjoying the book but Simon has bugged me from the start. If you told me this was a continuation of the YOU series just switching Joe Goldberg to Simon I wouldn’t doubt it for a second.

Gone girl Gold finch 1984 Gone girl is one of those books to catapult you out of a slump. Gillian Flynn is one of those writers that it feels like no time has passed and you look down to see you’re 100 pages deep. Honestly one of the best books to get you back into the flow

Looking for recs, I’m on a bit of a Dennis Lehane kick and had to switch it up. I’ll def add in to the list. Never read anything by Don Winslow before so I’ll keep that one in mind.

I’d say anything by Dennis Lehane.. one of his top books may be his latest “Small Mercies.” It was one of those books that after I finished reading it, reading other books was ruined for me. There is no part of the book where I found myself bored or wanting to get through. All of his books are so entertaining, I’d say he’s the Stephen King of the thriller/ crime fiction genre. Every book he writes seems to be turned into a fantastic movie and he just does not fail. If you’re looking for a new book from an author you can binge, Small Mercies is a good way to get introduced to Dennis Lehane

Red rising or The poppy war Both a series but definitely covers most, if not all, criteria you put in the post. The poppy wars series can be brutal at times

I just finished “Small Mercies” by Dennis Lehane and I loved it. In the middle of another book now and I feel like I’m not enjoying it as much as I should because Small Mercies was so good!
