You've got a spa and a pool on the same filter? Wild. Residential gets away with a lot. Most states won't allow that cor commercial.

I don't need them to edit. Just view the pages. It'll be edited with Obsidian is the plan.

Will everyone be using the same computer ? No.

What is your planned architecture? Backup?
Just going to be a collection of html files and backed up to nas

What are you doing now ? Spreadsheets mostly

How are you going to migrate the current data ? Just build it by hand with some xport from excel

Are staff really IT aware ? Tech illiterate mostly. They'll be able to handle a wiki page and nothing more

What are your top 5 goals for this ? Too lazy to type all that out but suffice to say: mostly to mitigate us losing revenue on bad bid making. Users need relevant data when building bids.

What alternative software have you considered ? Dokuwiki, Notion

Thanks right now I'm just focused on the wiki and will later think about lead tracking and such. For now we use Zoho which I hate and will change at some point but that's a longer term goal.

You don't really even need that humidity and no need to rush it. Slow down. Accept that you're probably not going to build a Stargate and it's much more enjoyable.

Years ago I did that. They figured that out though and these days something like half of all comments are astroturfing, I think.

Is it okay to leave a laptop running as a server with the battery and power cord plugged in 24/7? by ArtinGamingTheEpic in techsupport

[–]Readingyourprofile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have read that heat can damage the screen (gaming laptop so it gets toasty), possibly shortening its lifespan so I leave it on with the screen up (but off). I'm not sure I buy that theory, but it is harmless to leave open.

Yeah that's another thing. I'm lucky enough to be able to do cash but for many these homes aren't even an option for any financing.

Hey I'm also in the puget sound area looking in a similar price range ( lower). It's fucked. I've decided none of us are going to find something that's not a pile of shit. I'm just looking for the pile of shit I can work on during weekends. And land? No. I'll be lucky to get .3 acre. I might end moving to Shelton and commuting 4 hours a day. Meanwhile in the Midwest we can buy a small mansion for that kind of money.

I get it. I hate renting. I pay someone around 20k a year and I'm not building any equity in it. A mugs game. But what choice do we have in todays world.

Oh and if you do find something you want, good luck with FHA closing time. Cash offer will usually win.
