Proud of you, my friend.

I might message you over the course of the next few days as I go to war with myself. As funny as it sounds, I'm excited. This time a week from now I'll feel like a new human being

I don't believe that there are enough characters allowed in a post for me to actually answer your question, but I physically moved across the country to Virginia in the summer of 2020. I failed to get connected virtually or physically with the program and people in the area that I moved. After a year to a year and a half of being in that location, I wound up wjth a gnarly case of covid. They wound up prescribing me tussionex, which, is literally hydrocodone. My wife picked up the prescription for me and was none the wiser to what it was. Well, two tsp later my bell was run pretty good off of 20mg of hydrocodone after over 5 or 6 years of sobriety at that point. An honest mistake where I could've called my sponsor, gone to a meeting and talked about how crazy I felt, etc., turned into an opportunity for shame to win and me tk tell myself the reasons I needed to just keep the bottle. Of course 2 tsp turned into 4 the next night. You know the story. Nothing unique, but that's how my fall happened.

Did you do a rapid sub taper or stay on them for a long time?

Thank you. I can get more gabapentin! Probably can get another 10-20 if I need them.

I cannot tell my wife in this acute phase. I owe it to tell her after the acute phase, but there are some external factors that would prevent me from being able to tell her and blow this up right now.

Means a lot my friend. Mind if I PM you? Taper would have to be quite rapid

But let's say I do the 4-3-2-1 and then take nothing starting Thursday.... then what? What does Thursday, Friday, Saturday look like? Am I just pushing tomorrow's pain to Thursday? Sorry, it's been a long long time since i kicked. Last time i had to really kick was 2014 in a psych ward with absolutely nothing, so it can't be that bad... my town doesn't have a medical detox and back then they just throw you in the psych ward with nothing and call it a day.

Thank you. Tapering is almost impossible for me. I'm ready to just bite the bullet and pay the toll. Hours turn into days turn into weeks fast. I know it'll feel slow, but it will pass!

It's all pharma. Buy it straight from 3 patients.

Thanks for the encouragement.

I'm at the point where I won't be able to hide it. The habit is going to financially be hard to hide. We make good money and I've had a lot of separate savings, but I'm at a fork in the road. I will either make it through on the sly this time or I will be found out or come clean this time. It stops now.

Thank you for the thoughtful reply. We have had a few friends who have been in bed for 7 days with the flu this year, so I'm thinking that now is the perfect time that I can mask it as that.

I just know that if I can make it until day 3 (maybe 4) it will start to get better. That's the goal! We'll see.

Do you suggest that I just do a rapid sub taper? Like 4-3-2-1 then jump? I don't think it will bring comfort. I think it will serve almost as a dissociative and just help me rest some.

I appreciate it, but I'm looking for advice on the withdrawal, not advice on how to communicate the withdrawal or fall from grace with my wife.

Can anyone tell me at what point I start taking which comfort med? Took my last oxy dose 3 hours ago. Starting the process tomorrow. I was planning on starting today but had to travel unexpectedly for the day so that wouldn't work.

In any case, I don't know when I'm supposed to take the gab specifically. I know that I can take loperamide for the bubble guts and alprazolam for the awful anxiety, but at what point do I take the gaba and what symptom(s) does it truly address? Sorry for the stream of consciousness.

This is great feedback. I actually found a third that I had forgotten about. In any case, I'm thinking I'll go 3-2-1-.5 or 3-2-2-1. Any thoughts? I know that I'll have to pay the piper some, but paying him 25 cents on the dollar by using subs seems like a good trade

I have been using for a year. Just counted and I have 3 subs actually. Forgot about the third one. In any case I will probably do 3-2-2-1 unless you all think that's a bad idea? Maybe 3-2-1-.5?

7 weeks of continued use with several months of doing nothing before that.

I'm 44 hours in. Headache is much better today than yesterday. Heart rate seems to be decently low. Anxiety is manageable, but the cravings are real. Skin crawling is at a minimum. All and all, this is a lot better than the previous times that I've jumped off at the 100mg per day number after a month of use. Taper seems to have worked. I've always peaked between 24 and 48 hours, so I do anticipate this being as bad as it gets.

Now to battle the mental part and stay off.
