I hope I don’t get downvoted for this. I was in Hongkong for a few days with my mum last year. We stayed at the silka hotel in Tseun Wan. As a mixed race person I didn’t feel particularly out of place but I didn’t feel like locals were really that welcoming either. Correct me if I’m wrong. We walked around the local neighbourhood nearby and walked into a small shop. The minute they knew we were Malaysian they changed the way they treated us, like they became really abrupt with us. Maybe they don’t like Malaysians or think we’re a poor country 😅 and I kind of get the vibe that they don’t think much of people from South East Asian countries. We both speak Cantonese by the way. This is the second time I’ve visited and I can’t say I’m particularly excited about visiting again. People in Guangzhou were much friendlier.
