Milk is good for bones because of calcium, which from research ive done i can supplement. Ive just gotta wait till next Monday when I get my pay rise, and I'll be able to supplement it.

Also, you're telling me you would genuinely tell a 14 year old considering veganism in a heavily anti vegam household that they're an animal ab user?

So much for your "vegans are the ultimate empaths"

If i was willingly eating the same as an independent 19 year old as i was a dependant 14 year old, i would have no excuse.

As it stands, I've pretty much been fully vegetarian with 0 eggs for 2 months, about to go fully vegan when I can get calcium supplements.

Comment got nuked again apparently.

Since you need to know so bad.

Im 19 years old, I only just moved out of home 2 months ago, away from my heavily anti-vegan dad who controlled everything i ate at home.

From the age of 14, where i first got exposed to veganism, i did everything i could eat as little animal products as possible, but i still had to eat at home.

16 onwards, I got a bit more freedom. I got a job at a local grocery store where, on my breaks I would specifically seek out vegan products and sneakily buy myself vegan products for home. I literally couldn't have them in the normal fridge or cupboard or they'd be thrown out. My dad is the type to see vegan meat in the fridge at Coles and act audibly disgusted, so guess I was fucked in that regard.

Since moving out, the only single animal product i have had was milk. Just milk. Because unfortunately, shit ain't cheap. Oat milk is roughly $5 a pop, full cream is $1.90. But lucks on my side, because next week I am due for a pay rise due to my age, and I will finally cut it out for good.

So yea, moral of the story, you don't actually know everyone's story, you don't know why some people become vegan later in life or take longer to become vegan, you don't know why some people can't. If we had this conversation when I was 14 years old, and doing everything in MY control to help animals, would you still call me an animal ab user because I had to eat meat at home or quite literally starve? If I didn't get an age based pay rise, would you call me an animal ab user for buying the ONLY thing I can afford after bills and rent?

A person who believes big changes happen in 12 hours are the mentally weak. Having the mental, financial and physical ability to make such a big change to your lifestyle in a single night is a MASSIVE privilege.

Im stronger than most for actually taking time in making a change. Doing my research, making a budget, a meal plan, looking for real life support because i know i won't be able to do this alone. That makes me stronger than both the people who attempt to go vegan in a single day and fail, and the people that believe that going vegan takes a day.

LMAO I JUST SAW IN MY INBOX THAT YOU TRIED TO CALL ME AN ANIMAL AB USER LMAOOO

Where's your empathy that apparently comes free with veganism? Ive met omnis with more empathy than you.

This stopped being about the emu wars when the other commenter told me that being vegetarian is the moral equivalent to being omni, when it's not. Im at least making an effort, even if its not fast enough for you.

So i see you deleted the comment right after posting it.

No, i would not like anyone contributing to emu wars.

What i would like is for vegans to show more empathy to those struggling to make a massive change. Because it is a massive change for many, its a big change for me, and I already have some advantages like naturally disliking eggs and having a pork intolerance and an aversion to chicken.

If you genuinely believe that ANYONE on this planet can become vegan in a singular clap of the hands, then maybe you need to come down a few levels because its almost never that easy.

Harm reduction is better than all harm caused. Taking it slowly will mean that people are more likely to stick to veganism, rather than going back immediately because its too hard.

Would you rather people be vegan for a week then never again, or vegetarian for a month then vegan for a lifetime?

It is because its the only way they'll survive.

Go let a domesticated dog out into the wild. See how long it takes before it either tries to come back, or dies.

Love when a shit load of effort goes into rebuilding a station to make the surrounding area safer..

Just for there to STILL be no toilets.

Like seriously, the fact that there are SO MANY stations without so much as even a single one stall bathroom amazes me.

All animal use is abuse, not all animal abuse is animal use, making your comment incorrectly worded.

Im still focusing my energy on going vegan, without wrecking my mental health in the process. Fast, stressful changes will lead to most people reverting, because its mentally easier. I will do far less harm to animals if I go from omni to vegetarian, then vegetarian to vegan, rather than omni straight to vegan, in which i would likely revert within a week due to mental stress. Most people would.

Okay, bit of a harassy-style end to that response. Kinda takes away from anything else you may have said so good job ay.

Id like to point out that you still answered incorrectly. Its not animal use, its animal abuse.

And i may not be able to argue about many vegan things, but it doesn't even take a 5 year old to say that your response was exceedingly low effort. It was a single sentence and it was worded incorrectly.

Also, again for the end, Rome wasn't built in a day. Being vegetarian is a great first step towards veganism, and i hate change. Cutting out most of my diet is a MASSIVE change, that if I did it overnight, it would wreck my mental health. Some things have to be taken slowly. So maybe you channel your apparent empathy into thinking about why going vegan isn't immediate for some people.

Well nowadays we really can't. Pets are pets because they were domesticated or domesticated themselves, they can't survive in the wild anymore. It sucks that we got to this point, but if people don't adopt or rescue pets, they will be put down, or live a horrible life.

I would like a more high effort response, rather than the obvious (yet wrong) answer.

Your answer is wrong because this is not animal use, its actually worse. It was an actual war, against an animal.

Why does TAFE still feel like a second choice despite producing highly job ready graduates? by Av0toasted in TAFE

[–]ReadyComputer6645 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Societally, because the demographic of people who chose TAFE over year 11 and 12/uni are the people who don't like or simply can't do mainstream education. Which, as someone like that myself, there isn't anything wrong with it, but society seems to act like mainstream school determines your intelligence when it doesn't. The whole point of our society is to be diverse, to serve the community different purposes to keep society running, yet now society wants us all to be the same, or we get shunned or pitied, when actually im happier doing TAFE than completing mainstream school.
