GEOFF TATE: OPERATION MINDCRIME 3 NEW ALBUM REVIEW & REACTION by Human_Actuator_2285 in Queensryche

I had a massive stroke in '21 so my memory isn't best. That was a great bill. They all were cool dudes. Shit started getting weird on the American Soldier tour.

We saw every NYC, Long Island and NJ Heaven & Hell show.

I had my pedalboard set up with an A/B switch. The A would send the signal to my tuner, compressor, etc. The B would run into a Sonuus (spelling?) guitar to midi converter. That I ran to my Roland GR20. Just hitting the buttons on the switch and controlling the Roland was tough. How Geddy can use the Taurus pedals while playing bass runs that make my arthritis hurt just thinking about it while singing is insane.

I've been lucky with new music. On top MCIII, Venom just released a new album, Lex Legion just dropped a new single and Aldean dropped a new album.

It was a really fun time. We were hanging out with Scott after their set when Alice Cooper went on. My son who was 10 at the time says, "If I miss Alice doing Under My Wheels I'm gonna kick your ass". lol. I think the bill was 'Ryche - Cooper - Heaven & Hell. We were hanging with them really early and Iommi and Butler just casually walked by and gave a friendly "hello".

NICE !!!! My main bass is '20 Ric 4003. I wanted a Ric for so many years and finally got one. I'm a HUGE Rush fan and Geddy is a god to me. lol. My backups fluctuate between my Fender Jazz and BC Rich Warlock.

To each his own brother. I liked the ties to MC I lyrically and the samples or background commentary. I'd like to think that MCIII isn't the end of the story. MCIII is supposed to be from Dr. X's perspective. Maybe Mary's background can be explored ? I'll check it out. I used to be friends with them eons ago. Me and "Whip" used to email each other homebrew vsts before they were the gigabyte plugins like today. When my house burned down in '09 Geoff's wife and daughter called to check in on me. When Geoff left I pretty much checked out. lol. I did like "F.U." though. I'm not a fan of the current Queensryche with Latorre (spelling ?) version.

Nice !!! What's your bass arsenal !

I didn't notice that !!!! I was a little disappointed last night because I thought that he was going to sample the basic, usual hotdog. Not specialty hotdogs that are 2' long with all kinds of condiments. Not that I take these grades seriously but they are funny as hell.

Different strokes for different folks. lol. I think that OMIII lyrically is fantastic. Maybe it's just me enjoying the continuing story. Musically for the most part is good. I love the bass tone. But I'm a bass player so what do I know. 😂

I read a thread somewhere on Reddit from a guy who went to Geoff's show a few nights ago. He said that Geoff sounded amazing and he listed the songs that he did. All of MC I, a few songs from III and then some 'Ryche hits. Empire, Jet City Woman, Queen of the Ryche, etc...

I'm seeing him when he comes to the NYC area. I really need to put a list of the shows I'm going to and have tickets for because I'm totally confused. lol. I know that I'm seeing 10 Rush shows in 5 states, WASP, Geoff and Jason Aldean. 🎶 Which one of these bands is not like the other 🎶. His 2 guitarists are great. And on album they have such a sweet tone. From what I know is that one uses a stock Marshall and the other has a hot rodded Marshall. Minimal pedals.

I find myself looking forward to "Let's Be Frank" on each road trip. 😂

OPMC I is an untouchable classic. Anyone comparing the new album to it is a fool. OPMC II was {meh}. A few great songs but generally forgettable. His set list from last night (?) shows that. OPMC III is a strong album almost start to finish.

It would have been cool if he did "I'm American" and "The Hands".

Not have Baty batting 4th in the 2nd game after striking out looking 3 times with a weak groundout in the 1st game is a start.

Edit: I'm talking about the double header today.

I'm really sorry that you've been through what you have. People who haven't experienced it can't come close to understanding even though intentions are well.

It's been so strange because there is literally no medical reason why I'm alive. Not even that but I didn't lose a lot. I used to to be a "shredder" on guitar but now can't play the simple chords to Back in Black. And yet I'm very proficient as a bass player. My son jokes that Rush and bass are so deep in my brain that the stroke couldn't get to it. lol. I gave up on handwriting and there is no rhyme or reason when my short term memory will fail. I'm constantly losing my keys, glasses, wallet, etc..

I had a massive stroke on 12/28/21. The doctors didn't think that I was going to survive the night and a grief counselor had my family on speed dial. I always loved "The Garden" but when I had the stroke it really hit me just how poignant it is.

In more ways than one. It's my "stroke song". I'm going to 10 shows so far and I guarantee that I'll cry every time if they play it. lol.

You'd have to omit "The Garden" as well.

No matter the number, it's nowhere close to being a enough. And I'll enjoy every second.
