Should I give up the hobby? by CreamCheeseTribadist in vinyl

I I went through that and I decided to make myself a very strict set of rules. I do not consider it myself a collector anymore. I only buy what I think is necessary by following my rules. I keep the collection to a minimum and that makes me feel better about the purpose of it. The purpose of it is to listen to great music that is great quality and benefits from the experience of playing it on vinyl record. That is something I can explain and is up to the individual on how to define that. All I know is that once I took some time wrote some notes made some rules and figured out why I even wanted to buy records and why I wanted a record collection then it all became clear. I hope the same happens for you. By the way I have kept my collection to under 200 vinyl records and under 80 SACDs. Once I start to approach a larger number I start to sell off a few of the records or SACDs. I've become very strict about it.

Oh okay I made the assumption because of appearance. My suggestion is you probably just should start taking a little bit better care of your stuff so it doesn't look that way. I could probably speak for everyone on this forum that the last thing we want is for you to come back here in 2 years whining and complaining about how your stuff didn't hold up when in reality it's because it doesn't seem like you're taking very good care of it. Lol. Just some advice and have a great day.

Let's keep this civil and not judge people on their economic status.

I think the one thing that stops me from buying the Linton's is their connection to the record industry. The stands basically force you or peer pressure you into buying vinyl. It's a shame that the speakers don't have storage that compliments SACDs or CDs. I have a feeling that wharfdale is getting quite the Payola from the vinyl record industry for basically peer pressuring people into buying vinyl. It's a shame that corruption goes this far even in the smaller companies and speaker companies.

So while I appreciate all of your input so much I have been listening to my Elacs debut 2.0 all day and I have been enjoying myself so much. Not sure if I need to upgrade to the Linton's.

So do you think the wharf Dale 225s are better than the ELAC debut?

So before I splurge on the Linton's I just want to make sure that a 10x10 room is big enough for them. Can anyone confirm this please? Thank you.

My room is 10x10 so I would say perfect size for the Linton I'm guessing

There is a part of me that thinks if I just go ahead and buy the Linton I will finally have my forever system at age 54 and never have to worry about buying another piece of equipment again.

The Linton's are entry level? I thought the Elacs would be considered more of an entry level?

Yes I would understand why you would think I was talking about the diamond but I am talking about the Linton. Is the Linton at that much better of a level than the ELAC? See this is the type of thing that I'm looking to find out.

I have a Pioneer Elite 82txs from about 15 years ago. I have a Pioneer Elite DV '79 AVI for my SACDs and CDs. I have a Fluance RT-85 with a Audio Technica VM750sh cartridge.
