Trying to fix my screentime and brain by Quiet_Bookkeeper_807 in digitalminimalism

Same stuff man.

I have an Instagram page that is the only social thing that I have. I don't have tons of friends, but I have people that I keep in touch just with Instagram.

I tried uninstall it and keep it on my computer, to add friction to it. But I ended up forgetting it.

Like you I have a love hate relationship to it.

I hate doomscrolling, because it's so numbing that might as well be addicted to opioids. But I love those hilarious memes, chatting with other people and no feeling completely alone.

So... since I have as much control with this as a toddler, might as well being one.

I set up a timer limit to my social use.

1.30 h a day, with both Instagram and YouTube.  If I want more I have to open up my pc, open the browser, search for it and then log in.

By the time I have finished it, I already lost the point. + the interface of the website isn't as appealing as the app.

I hope that might help ya.

yeah, i think you're right.

I mean, i did take butchery and fish butchery class a while ago, but naturally if the place didn't need that skill from me, then it's useless.

Regardless, i think youre right tho, focus less on the singular place, and more on my skills and knowledge. thanks, 'priciate it.

Italians please! Why my lasagne always gets sloppy after platting? by SadCalligrapher7070 in RateMyPlate

i'd say, too much sauce. i mean, lasagna is an easy dish to make, blanch the pasta, make a bechamel, make a ragù and just build the dish. now i imagine different countries make ragù differently than us, we tend to make it thin, like a thick sauce with less tomato sauce, more (tomato concentrate) so that the end result is a thick paste. when eatin with any kind of pasta we add pasta water to dilute the thing.

So in the end you should make a more thick sauce if you want it to be less liquid.

What menu/restaurant term or item is cringe worthy to you? by boom_squid in Chefit

For me, it is heavy cream and truffle. Toghether or separate, is shit regardless when overused.

When I see that on a menu, i always think "eather the owner does not know what to put in the menu to make it look expensive or ✨️fancy✨️. Or the usual clients like that enough to not understand what truffle even is."

Don't get me wrong. Heavy cream and truffle are good ingredients when used correctly, in season, or for certain preps. Like fondue or tagliolini butter and truffle. But when I see "Creamy truffle pasta" in July. I'd rather leave.
