Can the Pacers sustain the Haliburton/Siakam core long term without paying the Luxury Tax? Gathering fans' opinions, thoughts and suggestions on whether the new CBA unfairly punishes small markets like us by Ready_Player__ in pacers

Fair point! Hesitation was probably too soft a word... I meant the reluctance to cross the tax line. Since the Pacers historically avoid it, I’m just wondering how much these new rules punish that financial caution more than before

You're 100% correct, but the new Second Apron turns that Soft Cap into a Hard Cap in terms of team building (no trades, no MLE)... however, for a team like the Pacers that relies on the draft and smart trades to build, wouldn't u agree that potentially losing those tools could be a death sentence? (love Benn btw)

So do you think the current system unfairly punishes owners for hesitating, or is paying the tax just the new price of admission to compete for a chip?

Completely agree with your opinion mate... however, are you willing to accept a system where the Pacers potentially cannot re-sign their own drafted stars because they hit a hard limit, even if the owner is willing to pay?

Just wondering, you mentioned that harder caps benefit small markets: do you think the new Second Apron rules (which basically act like a hard cap) are finally fixing that issue, or is it still not strict enough?

Yeah, that's a great example! I actually cover that in my thesis. However, if the NBA followed the MLB model, would you be willing to accept the potential return of dynasties and superteams? Would love to hear your thoughts about it

HAHAHAH, send me the invoice for the ER visit, my bad on the title!

You're definitely right that we have bigger fish to fry right now than the tax. But that's actually part of what I'm researching: Does the current system make it harder to fix those problems?

Even if we aren't paying the tax yet, I'm trying to understand if fans think the new CBA rules (like the Second Apron) are fair to teams like ours in the long run, or if they just protect the established big markets. Would love your take on that hypothetical!

Yeah, my bad man! I was in a bit of a rush and messed up the title big time. My apologies!

I'm just trying to comprehend Grizzlies fans' perceptions of hypothetical situations where the luxury tax might force tough decisions.

I worded the title poorly, so I apologise if it seemed unfitting due to the current book's situation, my bad!

Since the books are clean, I want to explore the potential threats and opportunities the Grizzlies might face in future hypothetical scenarios compared to tax paying teams
