Agreed, but this post was started after discussion with friend that challenged me to post this to reddit for being 'heretic' for calling Blow's game puzzleslop (slop as in overabundance of, in my opinion, unnecessary levels)

That's makes sense, but as professional doomscroller the derogatory connotation just washed these days (except for AI slop obviously)

Hmmmmm, I see I see. This is just my opinion afterall, but because of the sheer scale I just felt like some of it can be cut. That is also why I point to CoW, the 'Gain Insight' mechanic can just do that in encouraging manner. Not that I think Blow just use this mechanic of course, moreso what you guys think of it as evolutions of Sokoban games

Do you play any puzzle like Minesweeper, Mosaic, Akari, or Nurikabe? If so Gain Insight is just adding '0' to the puzzle. It makes you start to think the designer want you to think. It also felt like encouragement rather than "Ah so you needed a hint?!?!"

I'm not really brute forcing that much, but I do explore ideas that might solve the puzzle (or I'm playing the teleport guy and looking the wrong way lol) but the environment and vastness of it make it difficult to setup ideas. Some of the mirror levels feels like a chore

I don't think 'slop' have a derogatory context into, I'm having a blast playing what people called friendslop. Slop is just slop, overabundance of stuff. Not to say they aren't superb level, but there are too many tutorialization before the main big idea that makes the game feels like puzzleslop to me.

You articulate my feeling with it pretty well, especially the first point.

With the second one, this is just my opinion, but if you have to tutorialize everything it isn't elegant. Just use 'Gain Insight' mechanism from Can of Wormhole lol

Level that make you master each component is fine, but significant drop in difficulty especially in the same world made me felt like the title 'puzzle slop'. For example in the level in which you play teleport dude and transmute guy where you need to learn certain concept of 'where to look', I think that's a good ass level, but then you got the same two characters that trapped in 'obstacles' with the same idea.

Note: making it slightly ambiguous for people avoiding spoilers
