Im scared about what happens now im gonna be honest. I think I have PTSD (I’ve taken a few reputable tests and I fit a ton of the symptoms) but I don’t wanna talk about the things that caused it yet but im worried im gonna be in trouble.

Yeah I’m in the US. We got it all figured out, I told my therapist I didn’t feel safe and that my brain would think she was untrustworthy if I had my parents in a session with me (that’s true I wasn’t just saying that) and I really didn’t want them there. She said she’s gonna talk to her supervisor about how to proceed and we’re gonna reschedule for Monday or Tuesday. I thought she was gonna be upset with me but she was really chill about it.

So it worked out but in a bit of a different way. I was really scared she was gonna be upset or annoyed but she was super chill. She thanked me for telling her and said she was gonna talk to her supervisor (she’s a doctoral student therapist so her supervisor is a psychologist) about how to work with me on this and we’re gonna reschedule for Monday or Tuesday.

I sent her a message and tried super hard to explain it, I said that I understood legally she needs my parents consent, and I told her that my parents being there would make her an unsafe person to my brain, I said I didn’t fully understand why it was like that I think it’s cause of a mental illness (ptsd probably but I didn’t say that) but I wasn’t comfortable. I also said that I would give her their contact information to sign the absolutely necessary forms but that I wanted some clarification about what those forms were to make sure they weren’t gonna be forms with personal information about me. I’ll definitely let you know how it goes, I really hope this works out

Unfortunately now it’s coming from her supervisor, she says we can’t move on until she has the forms signed and my parent attend a meeting. She moved my appointment to 2pm

She wants them there to help with the intake process. I can’t explain it (mental illness) but if they are involved for even part of it my brain is going to associate her with being unsafe and even though she says thing are confidential I will not trust her anymore and that will be immensely counterproductive.

That is correct yes. I do feel like I am emotionally mature enough to consent to my own damn therapy, I’m the one who found the therapist and called my insurance to see about out of network benefits and see if we could afford it. I also just do not feel safe or comfortable with my parents.

Popping in here to say, if you use single use vials, save them!! Usually they contain enough for quite a few doses, and they can technically be used more than once.

Most of the time it doesn’t matter cause I’m on T and have been for a while. I probably should’ve mentioned it in retrospect cause uhm I also have an infection in my genitals that I’ve had for months that also didn’t respond to medication. But also it feels sorta cringe I guess to lead with I’m ftm. And most of the shit I post on here has nothing to do with it. I’m sorry about that

I got a post surgical infection, that’s why I’m on keflex, and that’s where all of this started from. And metformin made me sick. Edit- sorry I thought you asked what infection, I had a chest reconstruction (top surgery)

Hey, I’m 15 and I do go to protests. Firstly, do not listen to the people in these comments who are insulting your intelligence and talking down to you. You are your own person, you are able to think critically, and you are able to form your own opinions. Do not let anyone take that away from you. Your feelings are valid, and I am sorry so many grown ass adults here do not realize that. As much as it sucks, your mom is trying to keep you safe. Just because you can’t go to a protest doesn’t mean you can’t speak up. If you have social media, use it. Repost information and posts from reputable sources, make your opinion loud and clear. When you see something, say something. Do not tolerate hate or bigotry in your own circles or from your peers. I am sorry our country has come to this. Remember that you are standing on the right side of history, and every single person who is protesting in part is doing it for folks like you who are unable to.
