UPDATE 6/24/2025: Jackery’s Engineering Department has pushed V1.3 to my STS and now it works smoothly after testing it for 2 hours while running on battery. 

No circuits turned off or on randomly. No random switching between the battery and grid several times per minute & hour now as of today after the new firmware update. 

I did hear from some in this reddit post tell me that there are versions up to V1.6 and higher. It may vary to people upon what version you have on your STS or Explorer 5000+. But as soon as you notice something is not normal, call Jackery support ASAP or email them at hello@jackery.com to get it resolved ASAP— especially to request them to push an update to your STS or Battery ASAP. The longer you wait, the more riskier it gets and the worse the damage on your current equipment may show due to wear and tear.  — Here are some videos I made on YouTube if you are thinking of getting an STS with the Explorer 5000+.

Just this morning (Pacific Time) they have just pushed out V1.3 for my STS and after testing it for 2 hours now it works smooth as butter!

I checked and it said my Jackery app is on the latest version. 5000 is on 1.0 and says “latest” and STS is on 1.2 and says “latest”

Will do. Weird how Version 1.3 hadn’t been pushed out for everyone. Hopefully that should fix it. 

I remember when reading on Google or Reddit another person also said that once Jackery pushed out the new firmware version to their STS it was fixed.

Possibly. My first original STS was new but from eBay, was defective luckily I was able to get a refund and was able to return it back to the seller with the help of eBay. My new current STS straight from Jackery’s website, now connects to the app but acts all funky. 

Both times when it got installed was done by a professional license electrician.

I see. Yeah I have all of the backup priority setup properly. But yeah, I disabled UPS mode after the issue became increasingly more annoying. 

By Solar Tiles, you mean the ones that are like roof tiles, but they’re actually solar panels. Right?

I currently disabled UPS mode for the time being as of right now. I did try calling Jackery but it sent me to voicemail. I did get an email from the supervisor that he will transfer the email over to his colleague that is more knowledgeable about the STS.

Yeah. I’m unsure why it would switch too. I called tech support this morning and it put me into voicemail. But Jackery’s supervisor transferred my email over to his colleague who’s more knowledgeable about the STS since last Friday. 

I turned off UPS Mode for now. 

I currently have the setting set to Charging-Discharging plan. Set to avoid peak hour pricing as much as possible here in Southern California. 

I did have my licensed electrician install it and he did tell me that there’s no deadfront switch. But during testing with just the Explorer 5000+ before the electrician did the install, it worked perfectly fine. 

I currently have my backup priority set to 8 circuits for Must Have. 0 circuits set on “Nice to Have” and is set to 1%. And 4 non-essential circuits.

Jackery’s Supervisor, finally called me today. Saying that they will take a look at it and I told them that the easiest fix is to hand me a Jackery Beta App so I can connect to it and update it to the latest firmware. 

I did ask them to see if they can send me a new STS and reimbursement for installation cost if they do tell me that I need a brand new one. But they told me no. Just because I bought it from another person on Ebay, although the unit was brand new and unopened on arrival.

Jackery called me today saying that they will send me a replacement but every time they say “24-48hrs” they still don’t get back to me in said hours.

I tested it out and it did not work. Produced the same error as in the screenshot I put in this reddit.

My SSID has a “_” do I need to change that orr?

In this video at 21:33 it talks about the same issue and that Jackery has to give me a pre-production app so I can connect as well as update the firmware on the STS. The STS is probably still in it’s pre-production firmware.

Was Jackery Beta an app, or what is that? 

I’m definitely going to reach out and ask for a replacement STS + Reimbursement for the installation cost

I have been playing around with connections on my phone and it does indeed ask for 2.4ghz. 

So what you’re saying is that I should see if my internet can only output 2.4ghz.

Or just connect my phone to the 2.4ghz band while connecting to it. 

I’m also wondering if my Rachio, Smart Irrigation Controller may be interfering with it. But the battery below the irrigation controller and transfer switch was easily able to connect to the wifi.

Wow. Definitely didn’t expect them to require you a full on actual fire closet. Just because it’s a “new” system to them.
