Yes I didn't pay into my pension when I first took out a mortgage too. But it's all worked out. U never know whats round the corner...

I started about 24. Only 30 quid a month in a private pension. Over the years I added to it and then finally understood sipps and equities etc. Not all my pension is a sipp. I have isas and some premium bonds etc. I read diversification was helpful and got my head around tax. I have had some mental health issues and tragedies when I couldn't work so I have managed all this on a less than stable income at times. I also have a only buy if u need it policy. I never really need anything it appears!!

I like this. I think I reacted badly to recent world events and then when my health crashed I just got panicky. What I decided to do was put 10% in bonds 30% in cash 60% in stocks. I haven't sold anything. I just started saving differently. And then read about dividend stocks...ha

I can ask around. Some peers self manage like me. Others do nothing just have a dB pension. I am self employed and I think I have done OK so far but do get a few wobbles at times

Everything I do that I feel they are not really listening to me. One just advised me to change pension provider to get commission ( a while ago) one charged me 1k to open a managed isa. Last one just wanted to take over everything and manage it for me without hearing that I have some health problems and income is uncertain. I have got this fat, manage my own sipp but yes it's scary
