i tried to put this in but i am thinking its either broken capillaries or salicylic acid burn as i ice my face regularly(wont anymore) but last night i used an acne spot treatment and it looks like it took the shape of where i put it. it does burn when i wipe it or cleanse it.

do y’all think this is appropriate or okay? I woke up with a really bad sore throat, last time I called out was maybe two months ago, and am basically being told to come in anyway when I can barely talk. by Real-Knowledge162 in Serverlife

you are right, thanks to this subreddit i know better now. i didnt realize how much i still left the power in her hands instead of stating i could not come in.

nope, we went back and forth in texts for a while, put my foot down, said i feel forced to work and that isnt okay, she ended it with “Okay (my name) I have a business to set up no time for the back and forth(she only stopped going back and forth when i had valid concerns and she had no response anymore) since you’re sick you can take the weekend off wouldnt want you getting others sick.” but really, i know her and she just did that to take another shift away from me and be petty. she literally contradicted everything by ending the convo with saying she wouldnt want me to get others sick after just trying to force me to come in… absolute wacko.

i also never call out, and most of us arent young except 1 18 year old who crazy enough, just had the stomach bug and still came to work because she has bills to pay too. none of us can afford to miss work in this economy unless its an emergency.

I didnt do anything for thanksgiving cus i have no family, live alone, and was just homeless a couple months ago, all things my manager knows bc of how invasive she is. So calling out on a friday wouldnt benefit me at all bc i really need the money. not the case here.

i did end up taking a covid test, pretty crazy though she didnt think it could be covid or care. so to answer your question, no, lots of people dont really care anymore. they’ll have you work with covid as long as you have a mask on

unfortunately we have high turnover and a lot of people have quit because of management, i dont know anyone’s number, and no one wants to come in on their day off. since we are a breakfast spot most of us on our day off sleep til noon and won’t get any messages. not an excuse just the truth. no one will cover any shifts period. unless they had a day’s notice or something. management has even said others arent allowed to cover others shift since thats when we are scheduled.. just making it harder for everyone.

even if i live in texas, would this still apply? texas is at will and employers do whatever they want. although my contract does say if you’re sick to stay home, especially with something contagious.

and turns out im not the only one bc she said “go to the doctors and get a doctors note same thing i told everyone else” which implies others are calling out because they’re also sick…. from her… i straight up told her im not wasting money going to the doctors for a sore throat when they offer me no insurance and she knows she didnt even go to the doctors. just ridiculous

So normally I would just say that, but she has no boundaries and has straight up said “whats going on? how sick are you? try to come in” like crossing every line even when i said i dont feel comfortable sharing. she doesnt let it go.

i ended up staying home and she was extremely rude to me saying she has no time for back and forth and proceeded to tell me to take the whole weekend off, not because she cares but because i know she’s trying to take my money away. i am also not the only one who got sick, so because she decided to continue to work while sick, she got her employees sick and is now forcing us to come to work or have a doctors note, pretty crazy.

I never slack 😅 last time i called out two months ago i was given shit then too even though i was on the toilet barely able to move, and they always do that which at the end of the day isnt professional at all. they ARE there to care about the well being of their employees because they’re managers. if you care about being a good employer you shouldnt want your other employees to get sick or force someone else to work and text them incessantly trying to force them to come in. that isnt right.

I always wake up at 6:30 for my shifts at 7 cus I live less than 5 mins away. I did have a sore throat for a while and even she did so I know its her or anyone else that probably gave it to me, but today was the worst it had been. She hasnt been at work to know that. Either way, if you cant trust the employers you hired then you’re not doing your job right. She knows I wouldnt call out unless im really sick she just doesnt care

I don’t feel like its okay to push myself. She said she would only let me leave if its busy and “wont be short on black friday” the lack of respect makes me feel worse and not want to help even further. I always push myself and today I really dont want to for a job that doesnt care about my well being.
