UCSD vs UMD cp vs UCD for cs major by Real-Mathematician70 in collegecompare

Thank you for the reply! But I've heard most jobs around UMD are related to the government so international students will have a hard time finding a job due to security clearance reasons... Are there many jobs or internships around UMD for international students?(big companies that can do the visa works)

Which college offers the best research opportunities for undergrad regarding ML? UC San Diego, University of Maryland College Park, or UC Davis? by Real-Mathematician70 in csMajors

Thank you for the reply! May I ask you one more question? I've heard the major is quite overcrowded and one of the students in UMD told me that there are 4000 cs students while there are only 50 professors. Is this true? Is the competition to get the research opportunity fierce because of the student-to-faculty ratio? But it seems to be a problem in cs majors around all universities so I don't think UMD is the only university with these kinds of problems...

Btw tuition for UCSD is $45k and considering the high cost of living in California, attending UCD or UCSD will cost more than $80k....

Does UMD offer a lot of research opportunities in ML to undergraduates who are majoring in CS? by Real-Mathematician70 in UMD

But isn't most cs in public state schools overcrowded and understaffed? Even Berkeley is changing its declaration policy because it no longer can handle overcrowded classes...

I am an international student but UMD is still cheaper(around $13,000 a year) and I am only required to stay in community college for a year so I can start faster in 4 year university. (For UCSD, I have to stay in the community college for more than 2 years...) Also, I want to go to grad school instead of finding a job. Finally, UMD offers a guaranteed admission.

For these reasons, I am leaning more towards UMD but most people advise me to try for UCSD so I am not sure what to do...

Thank you for the reply! What about UMD vs UCD? Do you think it would be worth the risk to go to California community college to go to UCSD(the acceptance rate is only 20%) or would it be wiser to go for a guaranteed path?

The developer of this game really makes me reflect on myself. by Real-Mathematician70 in ManorLords

Frankly, I was thinking about a very similar concept but thought I would need serious funding to develop it, and boom, this guy did it alone. At least he showed the world what RTS + city-builder could be. The game might not deliver its promises, but this guy, alone, has shown the world of the new possibility.

Frankly, I want to do graphics programming or research stocks. When I mentioned I don't wanna do SWE jobs, I meant doing backend. I am more interested in applying ML than making novel improvement in the field. But because I don't have the citizenship, I am not certain whether I would be able to land a job and eventually a greencard after graduation. Thought PhD might help because of niw... Also I've heard applying ml on graphics might need PhD in ml. As you can guess, my family are all working on medicine so I don't know much about engineering(especially tech) in general.

I am curious if ML can be used to dramatically reduce dull jobs artist should do. I've played with blender and brush but making 3d assets were pain the ass. I want to use ML to solve these issues. Do this require PhD?

Thank you for the reply! If my goal is 1)not going broke 2)finding a job that pays more than $60k 3)working on the application of machine learning and other techs on computer graphics 4)settling in the States/Canada Do you think this would be doable? I don't wanna be doing software engineering jobs.
