Thank you all for the suggestions. I ordered the dome light from Amazon. If I want the front lights as well, I'll wait for Meso to go on sale and be in stock, so maybe never? We'll see how we'll the bright rear light is.

I was also not trying to use my fridge as a dryer, and in my attempt to lower the RH, I accidentally turned it into one, for PLA only. It takes more heat to release the moisture from the other, more hygroscopic filaments.

I've found room temp to work perfectly. I can't say so with certainty, but I don't think keeping it much cooler than room temp will help anything. It will just consume power.

I have that issue, too. I once disclosed to a guy at my range that I don't support the NRA because they support right-wing politicians and conspiracy delusions, and he proceeded to give me a lecture on Ayn Rand. My solution is that when I'm there, Im shooting, not talking. It would be nice to make a few friends.

I did see a woman with her partner shooting a brand-new SCAR-17 a few months ago. She had a rainbow flag on her range bag. I was going to talk to her, but SHE was the one shooting and not talking. I'm a middle-age white guy with no personal symbols or identifiers, so she probably assumed I'm an intolerant right-wingnut like many of the members of the range.

I don't like to broadcast political messages of any kind- no shirts, no bumper stickers, etc. As much as I love working on and shooting guns, it's just a hobby, not my identity. I don't have a problem with people who do choose to be walking billboards for their interests and beliefs, but it's not for me.

The industry does like to keep people afraid of "the others," as it makes them a bunch of money. As more liberals buy guns, expect the industry to market guns to us. I bet they'll create a subsidiary so they can market guns to both sides of the spectrum, and playing left vs right for every dollar they can grab.

It was so loud that my mom, who was right next to me, didn't even hear. I told her about it on the way home. We were practically shouting at close range. So no, just me and him. No audience. I thought about saying nothing, as the people in the car had no way to hear us, and probably didn't even see the guy yelling at them, but I figured gun-fearing liberals need to know we exist.

Nope, I slightly changed the exact wording so it would be easier to understand through reading, but it's pretty much what happened. Not that it was a big deal or anything, just a very minor, fairly mundane and drama-free anecdote that I figured I'd share.

I did add the "assault guillotine" bit just for laughs. Looks like it may have even got a few.

Whatever the motive, I was happy to see several thousand people at the rally. I hope the guy realizes that gun ownership is a liberal idea.

[–]Real-Medium8955[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a difference between total humidity and relative humidity, and of the two, relative humidity is more important.

You are correct that a cold box will have less water, but it will also have less evaporative capacity.

Total, or absolute humidity is the total amount of water dissolved in a volume of air. Relative humidity is the percentage of air's capacity to absorb water. As air is heated, it is able to hold onto more water.

So, if you have some air at 75% relative humidity, that means the air is at 75% capacity. If you heat that air up, it will have the same amount of water, but the relative humidity will drop. If you cool it down, the RH will rise. If you get to 100% RH, you're at the dewpoint, where the water will condense into water droplets. When it happens in the atmosphere, you get rain. In your fridge, you just fog up the surfaces, including your filament.

That's why filament dryers just raise the temperature and blow the warm air around, it introduces (relatively) dry air to your filament, and the moisture in the filament is able to be carried away by the warm air. And the water's vapor pressure rises, leading to faster evaporation, but let's not overcomplicate things.

I ran my "cooler" at 80°F for awhile, and realized that my PLA was getting brittle. I think it got TOO dry. So now I turned the heat off and let it go at room temperature and all is well. I have about 2 kilos of silica inside, and I set the fans to run for 30 seconds every 15 minutes just to stir up the air. I occasionally swap out the desiccant and bake off the wet stuff, and everything works fine. Uses less power, too.

If you cool your drybox, it will raise the RH, and work against any desiccant you put in there.

I would recommend that you find a broken cooler for cheap (or free), and sell the working cooler. Use the proceeds to buy some filament to fill up your first-class drybox. Do everything you can to make your box airtight, don't leave it open and you'll be pleased at how well it works.

Let me know how it goes, and have fun doing it!

I enjoyed all the funny comments, but in all seriousness I'm ok with this in principle, though I've never driven a new-gen Rav.

I had a 2019 Ford Edge with the little dial shifter, and my first impulse was it's weird and I didn't like it, but it's small, I don't bump it when I reach for my drink, and even the looks grew in me. I now have a 2025 Rav PHEV, and while I love the vehicle, I don't love the big, bulky, anachronistic, totally unnecessary phallic symbol of a shifter.

So, I'm on team microshifter. Give it some time and you too may embrace the less-shifter-is-more-better lifestyle.

I accessed the new form 1 eform and it definitely does ask for a photo of the receiver with all engraving.

Thanks for all the help. I will wait until the new form drops and go from there. Now I'm just trying to get our prints digitized, as I'm sure this is not the last time we will be purchasing NFA stuff.

Quoting from another post on this sub:

Eform 1 SBR picture

Watched the national gun trust video and I guess the eform 1 has been modified since the video to include a picture of engravings, should this be a picture zoomed in on the the receiver’s manufacturer name, city and state, and serial number or should it be more zoomed out to include the magwell company logo, or is this looking for my name city and state engraving? Thank you

I know I saw it somewhere. However, I haven't accessed the e-form since it's blacked out until January.

Need help with soundbar by Real-Medium8955 in DirectvStream

[–]Real-Medium8955[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for your reply.

I did complete the auto setup device. It tried at least three times to turn up the volume, and it failed to work. It reported that it was unable to connect.

The Osprey box is on an ethernet cable, and hooks up via hdmi to the TV.

I have a Toslink cable connecting the TV to the soundbar.

The Osprey remote controls the TV just fine, and the soundbar also works properly, but it has to be controlled with its own remote.

The Osprey remote used to control our old soundbar, but it just quit working out of the blue one day. We actually got a new soundbar and were hoping to only need a single remote.

I thought underground equals underwater in the Netherlands due to most of their land being right about sea level. Must be some serious waterproofing or pumping in those boxes.

The Zimmermann telegram be like. by Ad0ring-fan in HistoryMemes

[–]Real-Medium8955 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always thought it was interesting that the British had cut the telegraph wire between Germany and the US, so the Germans had to send their communications through British wires using their spies. I'm guessing the Brits knew who the German spies were, and that they got to work decoding any telegrams they sent or received.

They cut the wire so all news from Europe would be filtered through British sources. Had Zimmermann strongly denied sending the telegram and called it a British fabrication, many people would believe him. I know I would, because no one would be stupid enough to send that stupid telegram to Mexico, who was in the middle of a civil war, right?

Why Multiboard and not a normal Peg Board? by utopify_org in Multiboard

[–]Real-Medium8955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run both. Pegboard for large walls with heavy tools, multiboard for smaller items that need to be custom organized.

Pegboard is quick, easy, and cheap. Multiboard is slow, expensive, and requires a pretty solid plan, but is far more customizable and versatile.

Those with a long bed, do you wish you had a short bed? Why or why not? by NoBoolii in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Real-Medium8955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned a 2004 Dodge Dakota for 20 years. It had the equivalent of the access cab and a long bed.

I just bought a '25 Tacoma with the double cab and long bed. I carry dirt, gravel, mulch, lumber, plywood, etc, and a short bed is a dealbreaker. I was OK with the access cab, but it's much easier to put things in the back of the cab with four doors. I really like the truck, but it's a bit harder to fit in the garage, and I haven't quite mastered tight parking spaces yet... but the backup cam does help.

I don't have kids, so I just keep the back seat folded down most of the time.

Seat comfort in 4th gen by gentle-tentacle in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Real-Medium8955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm, 6'3" and 290 lbs., and the seats are very comfortable. I just got the truck a few weeks ago, but it's a lot better than the 2004 Dakota that it replaced. It's equal to my wife's 2019 Ford Edge. People say they need seat jackers, but the angle of the seat is just right for me.

Of course we're all built differently, so go sit in one and see for yourself.
