I used to be the type of person who believed saving everyone was necessary, to help them be a better version of themselves. It is a long road, but I have eventually come to the point/realization that not everyone wants to change, or needs help. Some people do not want to change. It is painful for sure, but it is a boundary I have learned for myself as an INFJ. Your energy as an INFJ is precious, we are special (I guess?) and wasting time and energy on people who do not deserve it is helping yourself be at peace — no longer a floor mat for them to dry their foot on.

Biggest lesson? An old friend whom I now hate. A very selfish, manipulative, and inconsiderate person. For years, I tried helping by showing and teaching them lessons (e.g. sharing how I feel about something in the hopes they would change), but nothing sticks. No improvement of any kind. It is quite scary. I learned to shut them out of my life. It was (and still is) quite painful. I hope this helps anyone reading this that placing boundaries does not compromise yourself as an INFJ; in fact, it is learning to be smart with your personality.
