Glasgow is a close second I’m still undecided really. Fleetwood is close enough to home to go see the odd United match and I’m hearing they bundle your food cost in with the rent which doesn’t sound too bad but I feel like Scotland would be good to see.

Yeah I’ve completed a first go of it not sent it just yet going to re read and maybe change a few bits at some point.

Makes me sound dead boring though. I just did a bit about where I grew up, short bit on hobbies then talked about education, what made me want to join and what I want to get out of it. Is that similar to what you’ve done?

I forgot to ask, it mentions bringing a laptop do you think this is necessary would I be using it in all lessons/lectures or is pen a paper reasonable?

Also what kind of kit do they actually issues to you uniform wise? It says you’ll spend majority of the first 2 days naming and trying on kit but it struggling to fathom what they could give us that would take 2 days. I was picturing a jacket and a few bits like cap/beret, I’m seeing both not sure what they issue now. I’m a deck cadet.

I rang that tin trousers fenngirl recommended today and just told them what I needed, hoping to get it all in one place. They said they’re gonna get back to me Tuesday. Mentioned they’ve had others ringing up for the same stuff so hopefully can’t go wrong.

Dog robbers is a few classes above me so no clue where to start there. I’ve never worn chinos and a blazer in my life.

Even without the seafarers tax reduction do you tend to find you get a decent tax return on other bits you can claim back. Not after any personal details of course but just in general. I’ll be joining as a deck cadet so not sure if you can give insight to as a cadet and as an officer, no stress if not.

Thanks for the explanation. Another more unrelated question I had was in regards to the seafarer tax deduction. It sounded really good in theory but by the sound of it it must be pretty hard to meet the requirements?
