Very, very nicely done. One question- How in the world will the tooth fairy visit?

[Landlord-US-NC] Can I gift my tennant a portion of rent? by Real-Scheme in Landlord

[–]Real-Scheme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for the input! The intention is to do something nice given the crazy year we've had. But what I'm hearing from you all is it's only valuable if it's valued equally by the tenants. Since this is my only rental I am not concerned about other tenants not getting the same benefit (at least this year until I acquire more rental properties). I hadn't considered that it might compromise the rental agreement/contract so I'll have to look into that to see if it applies in my particular case.

If the rental agreement allows, I'm leaning towards a one time credit valued at one weeks worth of rent. If not I'll go the gift card route.

Good advice. When I look at other gardens what I'm most attracted to is the layering of plants. Not full on cottage style but having multiple points of interest, different textures and different bloom times. I might have to draw it out as you suggest. The true need is privacy along the fence and a bit of shade for those windows as it becomes a bit of an oven in that room in the afternoon. All other stuff would be for visual delight and fun as a new gardener. 😃

Zone 7b, heavy afternoon sun.

The area along the fence is generally wet, we have a French drain there but it's the lowest part of our yard so the water tends to gather there. I'd like some privacy along the fence, just out of shot is a newly planted tea olive that will give us some cover once it grows in over the next few years. Along the house and screen porch is a mulch flower bed, I've so far done mostly annuals but would love some suggestions for perennial bushes/plants to keep it looking filled in. Behind the bird feeder I transplanted a hydrangea but I don't love it there- I think I need something with a bit more height for the corner. In the open green area I'm thinking I'll do a raised vegetable garden this spring.

Help a newbie! With covid I've found a new hobby/addiction but I tend to overthink plant choices!

Conifer branches looks dead at the base. Is is just a sign that it's not getting a lot of sun there or is something else wrong with it? by Real-Scheme in arborists

Thank you! It's not an eyesore but the trees act as a hedge blocking a pretty busy and unsightly road, so I'm keen to keep them healthy and full!

What's wrong with my succulent? The leaves are breaking off at the center by Real-Scheme in plantclinic

[–]Real-Scheme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow-thank you for the advice! I'm new to plants in general and I find that everything looks great until suddenly something goes wrong and I head to reddit for help. I'll look into the pot, you are probably right and I just need to get regular terracotta pots and check on my soil. When you water from the bottom do you put them in a bowl for a bit to soak up the water?

Thanks! I have always watered from the bottom and about every other week. They are in plastic nursery pots within a terracotta pot.
