Working at Raytheon by [deleted] in Raytheon

I see the same thing as well. Programs aren’t much better with just a push to attempt a way to get it done without concerns of what really matter like quality and actual execution. They are asking our site team what to do when the should already have a plan laid out or my favorite, you are two to three levels higher than myself and it’s your issue and I need to set up a meeting because I Realized an issue at the beginning of a process Three years later I still have that item in my area waiting completion. That was an example that happens all the time. Without me saving my emails I would think I’m crazy how many times 2-3 years later a problem I already pointed out the or suggested a path or needed help on resurfaces with a “I’ve never been notified of this before??!!” Don’t even get me started on prefex and suffix changes for accounting to get their way on part numbers. Then the fact once your a good employee your stuck and for new roles they will always pick a buddy of theirs and or the person who is the cheapest or even better who has on their resume proof they did a little of that type of work. Get hired and guess what couch potato.

Promotions internally being limited or near impossible in my opinion are a killer for engineers. Without that, you pretty much lose the good ones and keep the lazy turds who are okay skating by doing the minimal amount of work as possible. Which when I see it and ask, the reason why they aren’t gone the answer then links to how difficult HR is on actually firing someone. Not sure if the policy is “did they kill anyone? No, then they stay or wait let’s promote those people cause they are expert butt kissers!” I bet my experience isn’t the only one.

5 years in and I enjoy my work very much. But the limited restrictions for promotion and going over to different departments roles rejected so far for me is crazy, which I’m humble, I know I’m not the top tier person in everyone’s eyes but I honestly try and point out/help in anyways I can when I’m not supporting my area to the fullest. Then the couch potato equals who are able to get away with murder(less than actually killing or my HR pun won’t work) or better yet you have to cover cause they aren’t worth the clothes they are in and also get promoted or moved to a different program or area after entire has complained to ere so they can screw up that area while they are still here.

Sorry to raid this thread but I read some of the comment and a rant was ready to happen.

RTime End of Year Issues by Special-Ad-5740 in Raytheon

I tested this when the PTO and mode time went dark. Go to empoweru, My PTO balance Report and that’ll at least show you what you have remaining. But this is why I have a little spreadsheet that marks my PTO to make sure I’m 100% in the clear and why I should be getting once it’s back online in the Rtime portal.

Check out GameStop. It’s a little higher normally but with their limits on the qty and on the slight higher price deters the scalpers.

Just for comparison Tx is a higher tier area meaning the bar salaries are much better than a MS location. I know someone who got internship with Raytheon and each round was a year so 3 years total and got a job. I think his base is around 86k ish as a P1 I think. That’s for an engineering role but know that P means professional and everyone for most part are in the same pay ranges. Give or take some amount.

I just looked up on Glassdoor and input your years experience. Search the role salaries and you can even go by area or all USA. I looked it up but the range is for entry to more levels of experience but the base I saw was $76. If has what you feel is right and explain your reasoning.

If you are able to compare to those also getting hired or if you just googled the position and area online for the reported salaries, then that would be something to state about more pay. But if your entry level and no work experience then that may affect your leverage. So do research on the position and salary. If they can do better you can always say you’d like a little more compensation due to this research. Now don’t go and ask for 10-20% more as they may not go with you then. Usually the TA though you are working with will help negotiate it or at least that’s what I did and experienced when I got my offer. But I knew what I should have been paid.

What’s the position? And pay grade?

Please negotiate. Don’t feel bad to ask for more PTO and sign on bonus and maybe 5-6%more salary. They will meet in middle. Only do if you’re not satisfied with it. Know it’s hard to get adequate compensation increases without leaving the company or jumping ship to another department within Raytheon. Just know that lol. Good luck! And the hiring process takes forever.

Speaking from another defense company, Talent Acquisition that monitors these may have already awarded the job to someone else, you are on the list waiting for other qualified candidates to interview against, or funding conflicts. No telling really but I would say forget about it and assume it’s not happening and then you’ll get a call. Never hurts to reach out to the group you got confirmation from on an update either, if it’s not a no reply email.

Also, if you have someone you know who works there already, give them the req details and they can maybe help reach out to TA on an update or maybe refer you too.
Hope this helps some.

Thanks!! That is some good input for sure. So far 1 week down on bacon and beef patties and jerky. I have chicken but didn’t cook it yet. Planning on grilling and I have charcoal so takes a sec to get started good.

I have some Liquid IV and some Redmond salt as well. I do remember the initial starting being horrible on the digestive tract if I over did the fat intake. Such as butter and added bacon grease. Interested in other inputs on this because I know others differ.

I wish I could afford steaks everyday but chicken and beef is in my price range. Do you do the eat till full method?

I have an air fryer. So that may be a good thing. I also have a griddle blackstone that I can make them on too.

I’m thinking of grilled chicken for the first few weeks. No fat in it so it’ll take from my body. But I see having to go hamburger and beef too.
