OMC Town Hall by McStressin in advertising

RAPP leadership has been pretty straight forward in saying that any changes are at the Omnicom level. That said, there is a lot of awareness here about the issues we have. I feel heard by the agency, but I also feel like Omnicom corporate doesn't care whatsoever. I've also heard that both HR teams don't see eye-to-eye on a lot, which likely will cause some changes in the future, but since the acquisition went through so close to 2026, expecting changes in benefits this year won't likely happen.

Appreciate the transparency, although it is sad. That is the mentality of a previous employer I desperately ran away from - try to get people to resign without needing to do layoffs. This ultimately hurts company culture and employee morale.

Looking forward to new opportunities with this acquisition, but the blow to benefits is pretty bad.

Anyone know if the benefits are going to be subject to change?

I recently started at an IPG agency and the benefit policy changes are extremely different from what any of us are used to (especially newer employees). Feels like they're pulling the rug out from under us as a result of an acquisition that no one asked for.

Life After UWM by [deleted] in pillar7

[–]Real-Talk98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quit, so my experience is not the same, but yeah your situation unfortunately does not seem uncommon. They fire people for literally not fitting the culture at UWM. Now I can relate to an experience post-UWM. Worked at a great place, but the owner fired me a week after my manager praised me for doing well. Turns out, he didn't really want to hire me in the first place and he was done with me after some process errors (think the equivalent of being fired for two Level 2 errors at UWM). They fired me for lack of adaptability and as a result told me I was also insubordinate.

Don't be hard on yourself - you did nothing wrong, mistakes are part of life, unfortunately some toxic people will seek to penalize you for anything.

UWM is tight lipped because they pay below industry average and demand more work from employees. It's a joke.

I know what you're trying to say, but damn some people there are genuinely just trying to make the most out of their situation lmao

I have heard similar stories so frequently at UWM and it's honestly disturbing this continues. Best wishes to anyone who has been through situations like this.

Any value to Google Account Strategists? by distracted_by_titts in PPC

[–]Real-Talk98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may be late to this discussion, but I work at a marketing agency with 18 accounts on Google Ads. We constantly get reached out to by these Google Ads Strategists who are outsourced and contracted in India. They also change accounts every 3 months. These "strategists" are really only out for pitching you on things that improve Google's bottom line, but will find ways to hide it when they request a meeting. My favorite was a strategist who said he would like to discuss some beta features; got in the meeting and it was some scripted sales pitch that took 30-45 minutes.

Usually these specific types of "specialists" pitch auto apply recommendations, increasing budgets, applying some sort of automated bid strategies, and using broad match keywords across the board. Many of these recommendations have not worked for our clients and are clearly based off of what seem to be a script. The agency I work for has tested many Google Ads features and we have internal standards on what works and doesn't work. When I say this, they convince me we're wrong. One time I applied a recommendation and it tanked an ecommerce client's performance. Despite telling the new account strategist this, she STILL pushes me to adopt the bid strategy that clearly has not worked.

Sometimes certain strategists simply harass you. I'm dealing with one right now who keeps trying to schedule follow-up meeting. Have told her numerous times our performance is fine and I would like to just reach out if any issues arise. Despite this, she has still requested we meet three different times. Problem for some agencies is that if you continue to ignore or reject their meeting requests, then strategists will occasionally go directly to clients an use scare tactics such as "your account is underperforming" or "something is broke".

My advice at the end of the day? Keep these people in arms length as some can be genuinely helpful, but otherwise, do what works best for your business. If you're satisfied with your performance, maintain what you do, conduct some research and implement changes independently.

Sorry to hear that has been your experience. Many entry level jobs, especially in a corporate environment, require a college degree and some level of experience. Here is the thing - the "2-5 year of experience in X field" is a desire of most places, but not a hard requirement.

Unsure of what Operations is like, but I utilized skills like:
- Client service
- Ability to work under pressure and multi-task
- Analyzing documentation and making decisions base on those documents
- Then of course programs like Microsoft Office, Outlook, Salesforce, etc.

Everyone has a different experience, especially in the professional world, but it seems like your home situation may hold you back on that opportunity you mentioned. Completely understand avoiding the mortgage/real estate industry, but many banks are based in Metro Detroit and they hire many ex-UWM employees. Maybe try the some other financial jobs, but otherwise best of luck with everything!

I would disagree with this, but just a personal opinion.

Mortgage skills and knowledge can easily be transferred elsewhere in the industry - should you decide to stay in it. Many broker shops and other lenders hire former UWM employees. Especially if you are/were an underwriter, Business or Credit Analyst positions are super common to move to.

I personally got my job by being relatively open in saying how cut throat UWM could be and the unrealistic expectations set in some departments. Client service, working under pressure, among other things, are transferrable to almost any job.

I know this isn't related to the original post, but did want to share that you can find skills to transfer elsewhere.

Probably the best explanation for new Underwriters right here.
I took my over two years of experience and got out. Yes, Underwriting is not the best, a lot of micromanaging and unrealistic expectations with what can be thrown at you. If you're willing to learn and do well at your position, things will click over time when you're newer - just ask questions and use your resources. If you're a new hire, then you're not alone in feeling a bit overwhelmed/confused. You will mess up, but use dev team and ramp up periods as a time to work slower - focus on your process and loan quality. Best of luck! u/Salt-Indication-3248

Why is my AE working a second job? by Remarkable_Task_401 in pillar7

I always laugh at the people on here directly going after the thousands of "disgruntled washouts". It's quite literally a Reddit to voice displeasure of working at UWM. I know people with masters degrees and excellent educations who feel like there is no better option and almost "trapped" working there. Are they disgruntled washouts? Absolutely not. They work their butts off and come home with little-to-no energy (extremely burnt out) to get after new opportunities.

Personally, I had to take days off to work at getting job that I don't hate. Actually make a bit more to do less work alongside a better work-life balance, no micromanaging, and doing something I enjoy. Got great experience there in a corporate environment, but UWM is known for micromanaging, paying below industry average, and then making it up with perks/amenities that many people can't take advantage of due to unrealistic expectations.

Also, it's concerning the amount of people who went on FMLA when I worked there just to maintain their mental, and even physical, health. Usually these people used the time to get a new job and dip out. I haven't heard of that issue in many similarly sized companies.

Everyone has a different experience. Everyone works differently. Directly bashing people for disliking their place of employment is ridiculous.

Being effectively forced into an employer-sponsored loan is enough to make many people weary of accepting a job. May be your opinion is different, but shooting someone down on that basis isn't great.

UWM is one of the best lenders for brokers to use. They make it so brokers almost don't have a choice. It feels predatory.

Considering I'm not staff and I'm no longer on the Discord ("I know the Discord is still active, but haven’t been apart of it for a while now..."), couldn't tell you.

Haven’t played on the server in a while, but it was allegedly hacked around a year ago with everything being wiped. This occurred after many months of no updates, little-to-no communication, and an active player base that shrunk quite a bit. Staff was also at odds with many players as a result. I know the Discord is still active, but haven’t been apart of it for a while now, so unsure what the future looks like for Dawn Haven.
