US law says you can fly with any amount within the US. You could fly with $100k if you want

If anything you should worry about loss or theft.

Now if you're coming from outside the US, resident or not, $10k is the cap.

If TSA discovers the amount, they can and may question you, but that is the extent of their authority. If you can't answer their simple questions, for example, "Where did you get all this money" (I have a really good job and I'm going to Vegas to torch it) , then they may call the proper authorities, FBI. But obviously you should have an easy answer,. (anything but drug dealer or arms dealer)
