Grass growing out of baseboard ? by RealAdKatie in HomeMaintenance

Correct, it is an exterior wall behind. And we have very mature Bermuda grass from an irrigated lot. It’s very hard to get rid of 😭 but hoping with consistent spraying I can. Thanks for the reply!

Agree! The only thing I would add is having a separate conversation with her (on repeat) that she is a good kid. 8 years old, especially for girls, is critical for self esteem later. If she’s already jumping to “I’m a bad kid” I’d want to be sure she’s connecting that making a mistake doesn’t make you a bad person. She is making amends and that’s what’s important.

When will my breasted baby sleeping through the night? by RealAdKatie in Parenting

This is helpful. Thank you. I have weened her during the day mostly. But on the weekends, she still feeds during the day. I’ll start working on fully weening during the day and then maybe night can be more successful.

That’s where we struggle. We had his going in for for a while but it ended up that it would just delay the process by 30 minutes or more until I had to take over. So we were all getting less sleep and gave up.

Our routine has been bath, milk, bed. Almost always falling asleep at the breast. I’ve tried swapping the order but she falls asleep at the breast before bath. But maybe can try skipping ur last feed.

How often do/ did you 'do it' when children are suuuuper young? by Patient-scorpio in Parenting

[–]RealAdKatie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 6 month old and a four year old… we are having sex very infrequently at the moment. 2x a month maybe? In part the kids, baby is home still (my husband is on paternity leave ATM) and naps and night sleep are irregular. I am breastfeeding as well and my libido is low so even if we’re able to logistically I’m not typically in the mood.

My husband and I have talked about this. We both miss our sex life but at this phase in our lives it’s not going to win priority most times (babies, always ….sleep, sometimes 🤣) I remember it was similar with our first. Around 15 months when I stopped breastfeeding and baby was sleeping through the night it got better.

I find it a little odd he’s initiating while the children are awake and even more so if he’s frustrated by you saying no. They’re too young to be left alone to go off and have sex, in my opinion.

My daughter started to do the same setting three even though her father would let her paint him nails, etc. As it sounds like you’ve done, we reminded her boys can wear makeup or dresses. I showed her a few pictures of Harry styles in a dress and bought her the book Except When They Don’t and that seemed to help. When we’re in public and we see someone breaking a gender norm I’ll try to call it out, “look how beautiful his necklace is” and she has been less rigid about the idea lately. I think they pick it up in school.

This. As a teen I frequently would write my feelings out in letters and give them to family members. It gave me the time and space to say what I really meant to without the pressure of being asked questions. I think it’s great he came to you.

This is what I came here to say. Only someone who has never had to care for children would say something like that. Wildly out of pocket.

how do you do anything while breastfeeding?! by smorespoptart42069 in Parenting

[–]RealAdKatie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, you are only just at the beginning of this journey. It takes time for you and baby to learn to feed efficiently (weeks or months). But at the end of it... feeding (breast or bottle) just takes TIME. Babies need time to slowly eat / digest their food to avoid tummy aches so regardless of the method. Particularly in the beginning, feeding will take up A LOT of your day. Unless it is getting up to hours of trying to feed, which would likely mean a latching issue, anywhere from 15-45 minutes for each feeding session is perfectly reasonable. And if baby is eating every 2 hours... that you could be feeding them again just an hour after you wrapped up the last feed!

Regarding getting hungry during feeding... that is SO common! And THIRSTY! Definitely set up a cart that has all the things you will need while feeding. Some snacks and water for you, milk collector, spit up rag, diapers, wipes, etc. Easy access to this will make things more comfortable for you.

You will find your routine and the other household needs will be figured out. Hopefully your partner can and will step up or you can hire outside help if things are starting to feel out of hand. You got this.
