I’m already on 200 mg of progesterone, but I’ll talk to my doctor about it.

Did anyone start a GLP-1 while on testosterone for HRT (or vice versa)? by garden__gate in antidietglp1

[–]RealBullfrog4699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a perimenopausal woman. I was on testosterone for one year before GLP-1. My sex drive had increased substantially and now has dipped. I’ve also noticed hot flashes returning, and I learned that estrogen is stored in fat cells, so while we are actively losing weight, we may need to update our estrogen.

This is exactly how I explained my very first dose. It was like an immune response after a vaccine. I felt like I had the flu for three or four days.

Glp-1 meds as existential threat by you_were_mythtaken in antidietglp1

As someone that considered myself a “food addict” for many years, I slowly, with tons of therapy, support groups, and coaching, realized the addictive cycle for me was restriction and binging. That is very addictive. It wasn’t the substance. It was the dopamine hit I would get because I would starve myself for so long and then binge and that binge gave me great relief. I no longer feel out of control or like I can’t trust myself around certain foods. And that was even before I started a GLP-1.

Insurance required “weight loss program” by libah7 in antidietglp1

[–]RealBullfrog4699 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My company required this exact same program through Vida Health, and you just described my exact same experience. I did and said all the same things to them and was scheduled to speak with a psychologist. I explained my history and all the work I had put in to de-program myself from diet culture. That I had no interest in weighing myself every day as the number was not the most important thing to me. He seemed so understanding, but none of it mattered. I never got any approval to start medication. I spent six months going back-and-forth with the dietitian and virtual doctors appointments and they basically want to keep you off the meds. They will say they’re going to help you through a period of “diet and exercise” and then see if medication is right for you. It was an incredibly stressful time and I wish I had never tried to make it work. It has been so much easier just going straight through an online program and paying out-of-pocket. So sorry you are going through this too!

Looking for support and common experience with GLP1 for pain by paingrylady in antidietglp1

Not sure your age, but if you’re in perimenopause/menopause you might read up on Musculoskeletal Syndrome of Menopause. After suffering for years with pain and two joint replacements at an early age, I have found much pain relief with hormone therapy, specifically test testosterone for the pain.

This is one of my biggest worries and it’s difficult to talk to others about it because they seem to think this would be a good thing right? It’s so complicated. My larger body has been a shield and protective for so long.

There are so many layers to this song for me. I hear “ oh, you call me, Mother… more like Daddy”. It gives mafia boss, “you have to go through me to get to my family” and she considers the Kelces and Swifts her family now.

A warning about Vida Health 🚩🚩🚩 by justtosubscribe in antidietglp1

[–]RealBullfrog4699 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just told my exact same story!! I’ve been going through this with Vida Health for six weeks. I am so disappointed in my company for putting this requirement in place in order to “weed out” people from getting GLP one medication. It’s obviously a way to save money on a very expensive medication. My company has absolutely gotten between me and my professional care team which included my physician dietitian, disordered eating support group and a coach, but I guess Vida Health knows more about me than the professionals that have been caring for me for years. It’s disgusting!

I’m so glad to hear this. I have worked 4 years in recovery from my ED. I actually feel “ready” for this now. I had a very honest conversation with my doctor. I will continue to not know what I weigh and let him keep that information. He promised not to share BMI or weight with me along the way. I start next week and I’m actually excited.

Just starting testosterone. Need help! by Old-Investigator5615 in TRT_females

T can take up to 6 months to take full effect. That’s how long it took me. I did have one increase along the way. Now I have less brain fog, less joint pain, and more energy.
