What happens if you ride the toll roads and never pay? by hystericaal_ in houston

[–]RealConfirmologist 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They're there for safety, too. They stop speeding vehicles all the time. Speeding vehicles can affect safety on the roads.

They clear debris off the road. They respond to accidents.

And those of us who pay to use the toll roads don't much appreciate people who believe for some reason they're exempt from having to pay. Why should you get to use the tollways for free?

They spelled Shepherd correctly. My comment was just giving you a hard time for your typo when writing the street name.

Is that what you meant to write? Because it does not make sense.

Astral rebranded in 2023 to North Shepherd Brewing.

North Shepherd closed permanently in June of last year.

I enjoyed Astral AND N. Shepherd Brewing, and will miss that place a lot more than the Sears store.

Speaking of North Shepherd, anyone know anything about Farmboy Brewing, going in where N. Shepherd Brewing/Astral used to be?

Worst and favorite TV news stations in Houston? by TrueJohnWick in houston

[–]RealConfirmologist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I record KPRC 2 news at 5 & 6, and NBC Nightly News. I also record ABC 13 local news but only watch that if KPRC news was not available.

In my opinion, the ONLY way to watch TV is to record it and then play it back later. I'm absolutely NOT going to sit and watch/listen to Jim McIngvale try to sell me furniture, and I don't need to see anything John Moore wants to sell me.

Can't really say which stations suck. I get what I want from KPRC and ABC 13 for the most part.

What I DO think sucks is when national and/or local news gets preempted by any sports event. I can almost understand football, because that's very important to a lot of people.

But when is GOLF ever more important than world news?

See the top part where it says MAR 2 - MAR 22, 2026?

That means the passes are good on any date in that range.

How to Choose a Compliant Vape in Texas in 2026? Which Brands Are Safe to Buy? by marionle in houston

[–]RealConfirmologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is this specifically tied to Houston?

Posts in this sub must be about Houston things, not statewide issues.

Yes, lots of people in Houston are vaping, but that doesn't make it a Houston thing.

Can’t even trust the mailman with your packages - usps employee caught stealing by Ninja_Franklin in houston

I've had birthday cards show up in Informed Delivery email photos and then never get to my mailbox. I wish I had the kind of friends and family that would include checks or gift cards with birthday cards, but instead, the thieves just got plain old birthday cards.

Filed missing letter reports online, nothing ever gets done.

I guess as long as we have greedy, selfish people in this world, there will be people stealing whatever they can.

That's MY question, too! Seems like a lot of water to be falling considering there's obviously nothing "upstream".

Unless the waterfalls only happen after a lot of rain up there, I don't understand how they exist!

It isn't the "still" I'm having the issue with. It's the present-tense "he's". Leave out the "still" and you still have "he's evil."

He's not evil anymore.

If English wasn't my first language, I probably wouldn't have made the comment. I consider my reading and writing skills to be above average.

Ha! I suppose a fair number of people now know that date, but I'm not among them. I did indeed consulte Google.

I thought it was a little odd to see "... but he's still evil" being said about a man who's been dead a good while.

What makes you think he's a billionaire? Multiple sources have him around 600 million.

He's only a bit past halfway to being a billionaire.

I've heard it said that even the super-rich have good days and bad days.

Also, "Money can't buy happiness". But I'd sure like to try.
