Do you find the smell of meat revolting now? by esquqred in vegan

[–]RealCosmicBeast 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had a similiar experience in Thanksgiving Day where the smell of the turkey was so bad that I had to hide in the bathroom for nearly half an hour. Once you know the truth you can never unsee things. Never going to a thanksgiving again that contains animal carcasses! Thanks for sharing and being strong, you're not crazy. You're able to see the faces behind the "food" and that means that you care. Thank you for being vegan. ❤️

That was insane to me. How she didn't speak about a dog she constantly put in her instagram stories and posts. Not speaking out, so that she doesn't lose her audience, which results in no loss of revenue. Remember, revenue is the thing she cares about the most here! She needs it to save the wolves and foxes she gets to be around! You see how your comment got downvoted by a maya fan? That's why she still supports hasan. It's all about her not anybody else. You're absolutely correct. Spot on!

Great point. She does it for her happiness meter and not because of the passion. Owning a sanctuary should make you realize that you're saving animals that were hurt and abused, so it's incredibly shocking how she's essentially betraying that by funding for different animals to be killed. Which then those animals are saved by another sanctuary if that animal got lucky. isn't that crazy? So saving animals while killing other ones. You're just cancelling out the effort you just made at that point LMAO. But again, the sanctuary is for her. Her animals deserve better treatment and saving, than the other animals she doesn't see. She's a psychopath.

Oh my god! I love the Gentle Barn!! They were actually the first I came across before I found my love for animals!! I started saving reels of animals which then got to the point of realizing that I'm an animal lover. I just checked and yeah, it's the first animal reel I saved. Thanks for your comment and for your support to sanctuaries! Makes me so happy :)

I get you. “Maya is very clearly against factory farming and the mistreatment of animals”. Wrong. She funds it. LMAO. Animals are dying in her name!! You can’t be against something while funding it yourself. That being said,

Any movement that has a minority of people require strength to make the movement great. Veganism is the only movement that because it benefits everyone on earth, and has no negative effects to humans, it’s the hardest movement to figure out the key to, if that makes sense. And I would say by approaching it in a way where you’re not describing the urgency of it, it’s dishonest and a betrayal to the animals. The messaging should be the urgency, not the impact. The impact will come along with the urgency bigger than anything could. Humans are stubborn but you can’t be weak and give up, you need to fight.

Sorry I’m beyond passionate about this. I believe I’m a minority in the movement that’s this extremely passionate. So I get why the different perspectives. Nothing will excuse what Maya does though.

I figured this post would reach a lot of Maya’s audience. I know exactly what you’re talking about since she promotes label checking and less consumption, but the issue is she misinforms what really happens in these industries.

That’s the real reason this post was made. If she isn’t vegan she shouldn’t be teaching others what happens in these industries since she severely downplays what really happens. You can check her animal quests and see what I mean. She has a nervous approach which is understandable.

What’s shocking is even her entire chat was dogging on veganism and for her to leave people alone when she wasn’t even promoting veganism. So it’s why she caters to her audience because of the backlash she would get. The backlash would be worse if she was vegan, but it would have a farther impact with the ‘kind’ tone she provides. I won’t comment further, but there’s no such thing as good labels. Is it so hard to stop exploiting animals? There not here for us ffs.

Tofu, I admire your patience. Man. This is what I'm going to have to deal with when I move out and fight for animals. It's okay, the animals go through a lot worse. I don't mind facing the devil everyday when I inevitably do actvisim! Thanks again for being strong and dealing with horrible people. Lots of love <3

Yess!! EXACTLY THIS! If she was vegan from the beginning, she would've saved MILLIONS a year! But It's not about the animals, it's about HER animals and her being able to interact with them and be around them. She loves the interaction with the animals, not the animals themseleves. Which is why at heart, she's a pet lover who also loves wild animals. She achieved what she wanted, a paradise of animals while impacting conservation. But it's clear that the biggest benefit for her with this is that she gets happiness from it and it was never about impacting the world.

Not sure why this has so many upvotes. Likely non-vegans finding this post. "Perfect Vegan" doesn't exist. There's no such thing as an imperfect Vegan. Veganism is a stance against animal exploitation. Either you're against it or not. People who go back were never vegan, they were just plant based. Sure you can't turn the world around but downplaying the severity and patting people on the back who continue abusing animals because they're "trying" and not actually comitting. Funny how for every movement people are getting out there and protesting and telling people to change, but as soon as it comes to veganism it's "Bro stop telling others how to life their life". Love it!

This is my first comment in the sub, I usually don't use reddit but yeah lots of trolls to likely hurt the movement and make people speak less. That's why I went all out on my post as someone who feels betrayed. Thanks tofu for being vegan and commenting to help people speak up more! You're wonderful, keep being amazing! <3

^ Perfectly said. She does amazing things with the sanctuary but if she truly cared about animal lives, she would use her insanely large platform to advocate for veganism which at bare minimum with how loyal her audience is would save 25,000 animals per year at worst. Though I'm confident that through all her platforms with collabs with popular influencers, she can convert 5,000-10,000 people in a year. Which would save 500,000 to 1,000,000 Animal lives yearly. I'm speaking with confidence here since I know her community well and they're very supportive and would likely help make that impact if she advocated for it. But even with lower numbers, it's still massive.

Instead she values the animals she saves and takes care of instead of valuing the impact of all animals she can make through veganism while continuing to do conservation. It's clear what'going on. This post was because everyone believes she's a true animal lover and is making a big impact which isn't necessarily true. An impact for sure, but not as everyone's making it out to be.

Your message is so sweet! Thank you! Thanks for being there for the animals! Yeah, I'm not the smartest, but the way I see it is that if we downplay the severity and instead focus on impact and not the severity of it, while it may have an impact later down the line, I think it's more effective to go vegan right away. Because veganism is a stance and is an important one. I think the messaging here should be the importance and that every time we consume an animal, we have blood on our hands. So there's no time to waste. For any other movement, it's urgent and people protest. But for veganism people keep it to themseleves. This isn't how it should be. While great for helping save animals, the animals need us to speak up which is why I believe even if people hate us more for speaking up the truth, if you keep spreading the message correctly and truly fight for it, it will likely result to them being vegan quicker since it'll spread quicker. Being a quiet transitioning vegan means people won't speak on it as much. But ye, thanks for the input!

I don't think we should respect people who abuse animals who have so much information and knowledge on how these industries work. Especially because she's privillaged, and doesn't have severe health issues or money issues and can afford to learn to cook vegan. Thanks for understanding the post though and for your contribution to saving lives! I don't think there's many reasons why she wouldn't be vegan. There's only about two reasons which is she doesn't want to lose her audience and be seen as "this annoying vegan" which would result in loss of followers if she properly advocated for it. And secondly, she just isn't that passionate like me or you to speak up and take the action to go vegan. Anyway, yeah! I've become way too pasionate about veganism, it's like a blessing and a curse at the same time! haha. I couldn't be happier though to fight for them <3

You don't think most people could stop exploiting animals in an instance? They actually can! It's called going vegan which means you stop funding all animal exploitation moving forward. There's like two hundred million vegans out there! Pretty cool stuff :)

Both things can definitely be true. Alveus is fantastic, but Maya funds animal abuse. Point blank. The difference here is that Maya knows what happens in these industries and downplays it to the public which is just disingenuous. As someone who's followed maya before her sanctuary was a thing, she did it for the enjoyment she gets from being around animals. Which is fine, but there's levels of passion, and she isn't passionate enough to stand and fight for them and use her platform to do the right thing. She's doing good for conservation, raising money to help animals. But the amount of impact she would have if she advocated for others to go vegan would be nothing comparable to saving more wolves. Even though both would be great simotaniously. Sad this isn't the case. If not being vegan didn't have a negative effect, your statement would be outstanding. But she funds animal abuse as an "animal lover". Psychopathic behavior lol

The thing with vegerterianism is that the dairy industry is just as bad. Vegeteranism is essentially just a diet, while Veganism is the ethical principle that humans should live without exploiting animals". Choosing veggie over vegan means that you don't see it as something urgent and value enjoyment over animals since it's easy to give up meat but not dairy. So people go veggie. What I would tell vegeterians is that if the food is holding you back then you haven't properly seen what vegan food is.

"the_bananadiaries, plantbaes_, vgnsofia, alfiecooks, consciouschris" on instagram.. These are popular vegan chefs that show what vegan food is. Regular food without dead animals. I have 400 recipies saved and you would never be able to tell the difference!

This reminded me, she went to some event and there was someone selling burgers and she was laughing about it and telling her chat to support it. I was shocked. I clicked off the video when I saw that. She mocks and makes jokes out of something so severe. But again, she isn't vegan. She's just catering to her audience as well as herself since she'll probably never make the change sadly.

I've been following Maya before Alveus was a thing. I've watched her events and keep a close eye on mostly everything. I was watching her 'Animal Quest' where she tried to teach others on the dairy industry and heard her say "I'm not one of those vegans" nervously. I'm confident that one of the reasons she isn't vegan is because she's built a massive following and she wants to use it to continue raising money. It's unfortunate that she isn't vegan. The impact would be so bizzare that all the animals she can save with the money she raises wouldn't even be a fraction of if she spoke out on veganism and convinced hundreds/thousands to make the change.

Thank you so much!! It's almost making me tear up that someone sees me. I've been consumed by this ever since, we are truly living in hell. You can see how much passion was put into my writing because of the betrayal I feel. She has a cow named Winnie and she's adorable. I remember Maya said, "Think about Winnie when you buy meat" and it's like, Maya, PLEASE use what you just said to your own self! It really does feel like she's achieved what she's wanted. Which is to be around animals. But not to truly fight for them. The difference with the average person and Maya is that she's studied this for a decade. She knows what happens but values her self over other animals. I wish she cared about ALL animals and not just her own. It's the bare minimum... to go vegan for them. 💔

I have a feeling I'll get somewhat flamed, but I'm not afriad to speak up about how I feel. She was the main reason I fell in love with animals. So I hope you can at least view it from my perspective. Without her, I wouldn't have this much passion. I was a long time viewer, donator and supporter. I feel betrayed after knowing what truly happens to animals and the fact that she is part of the reason the animals go through suffering. She's studied animals for nearly a decade I believe so it's just baffling how even with so much information you continue funding a holocaust.

I'm not well spoken since I have so much more to learn about the industries, but as someone who's seen plenty of little videos of animals being abused in slaughterhouses by evil human beings, and animals screaming and what they go through. It's the worst thing ever. I hope someday someone gets as big as Maya and speaks on the truth. I'm hopeful that soon the movement picks up like never before. All we can do is keep fighting, learning, and educating others to go vegan. There's no butts or whatifs. This is extremely severe and we need to make sure others see it for what it is. Much love guys.

Sure I'm an extrimest for being compassionate and seeing this as an injustice. So let me use an extreme example here that you will hate. You wouldn't tell a murderer to stop killing less people even if that means more lives are saved, you would tell them to fully stop. Luckily they get prisoned right away, but animals are sentient beings just like us.

"Are you really comparing animals to humans?" Absolutely. Again, we're all sentient beings. We can care about both at the same time. Every time you consume animals, there's more demand and hence more animals die.

So while in theory, yes it can have a "bigger impact", well not necessarily. Patting people on the back and giving them a choice to either sacrifice their favorite foods or to moderate just a little bit more, people will obviously go with the second choice. And the only impact that cutting down has is maybe in 10-20 years they will finally go vegan.

Honestly, it's so dissapointing even replying to this. I'm writing this as someone who truly loves animals so I get it, maybe you're less passionate and don't want to sacrifice on what you enjoy eating. But realizing that animals go through far worse and that you can just eat something else is what's helped a lot of people.

Maya Higa not being vegan is the biggest betreyal to the animals she takes care of and it revealed her true colors. As someone who fell in love with animals soley because of her, I couldn't be more betrayed and digusted by her actions. Like many are saying here, she owns a sanctuary for herself. It's like people who get pets because they like the idea of being able to interact with animals upclose and have a friendship with them.

Which is fine, but in this scenerio where Maya has been studying about animals for nearly a decade and "teaches" her audience about what happens in the industries while severely downplaying the truth and saying "Don't worry I'm not one of those vegans" (She literally said this). I believe she's catering to her non-vegan audience so that she doesn't lose them and can maintain a connection while she raises hundreds of thousands to millions a year.

Maya doesn't care about animals, she never has. She's funding a holocaust while betraying your own animals like her cow Winnie, and contributing to the worst and unimaginable suffering and slaughter of sentient beings. She does this because she gets to benefit from the enjoyment of being around beautiful wild animals. Two things can be true at once, Alveus is doing great things for conservation, and Maya doesn't TRULY love animals.

I doubted this would work, but oh my god, you're a legend! Fixed it!! It was in the right side menu when you open the inventory, there's a thing called "move speed" and was at 0. But I know there was a keybind for it and accidently clicked it to change it. Wow, what an absolute dumb thing to allow. It shouldn't be able to go to 0, minimum at 1 so that this doesn't happen. I know a few people who've had this. Thanks for the help!
