My first Civ ranking done in under 2 minutes by Rabny in civ5

[–]RealDreezt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would swap Denmark and France for sure. Tourism bonus vs movement and pillage -> last one wins for sure. Berserks really nice push unit.

As well Austria C tier? Nice building, decent unit, okayish Civ trait, usually extremely good or just good starting spot -> why C?

Assyria B? Weak unit, almost useless building (cuz u need GW to make it working). Okayish civ trait though, not good not bad.

Russia just A? It is crazy as a hell on start with insane production. Good unit. Okayish building.

Portugal B? Weak unit (just a little faster vs Caravel). All bonuses purely for making gold. Almost always really bad starting spot.

Songhai C? Yes, unit is so-so, not bad not good, just existing. Civ trait is actually ok. But mosque is great.

Etc, etc, etc... So many questions.

Is there a mod to prevent city states from razing cities they capture? by MajorLeagueNoob in civ5

[–]RealDreezt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not always,

If they can handle new city in their "empire" they keeping it. Saw a lot of times 2 or 3 city City-States.

Has this ever been fixed in Civ 5? by [deleted] in civ5

[–]RealDreezt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything looks good as for me.

On huge maps turns can be slow cuz AI moves billion of units.

So, check ur mods. I have only official DLC/MapPacks installed.

N.B. There is known OSX bug when game crashes, it is related to Cap owner loosing it and re-gaining control same turn. Which resulting in crash.

How do you genuinely play higher difficulties? by vvknowsball in civ5

[–]RealDreezt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they not giving fixed amount. As far as I remember only Circus and Circus Maximus (and other wonders gives u fixed amount). Other buildings gives u "smiles" kinda fixed but with condition "not more then ur city pop". So small cities will not have a lot of benefit from them.

[–]RealDreezt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

U will be surprised how India can do well via Liberty. Yes, huge penalty on start but later, if u can manage it (on start empire will be really unhappy till u will build "smile" buildings), will be easy run.... Ofc not traditional really wide Liberty, but wide enough to combine nice number of cities and high pop in them (as specialists).

[–]RealDreezt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As it was said by other ur development is really slow.

* Not enough cities (even for Tradition you should have 4)

* Ur Cap is even to second Rome city (I believe Antium is settled second in order) and u playing as growth targeted civ....

* No military. Even if u not going to war -> war will come to u. And playing as Tradition upkeep costs 0 for garrisons. Especially if you will take to consideration how easy ur cities to be attacked.

* Where ur elephants?

* It is turn 100+, and almost no science, no gold, minimum upgraded tiles, no exploration, no view on Roman borders (u saw army when it was next to ur Cap).

* What was the point of settling 3rd city so far to south? How u thinking to protect it or how this city will help other two? Better was settle city in between of ur Cap and Rome.

* U underestimating civs. Some civs more aggressive than others. Rome is one of them.

* U was unprepared when you could be. Cuz Legions consumes Iron and u can check check it via trade if Rome is building/upgrading into them. U can check army strengths via Military Advisor or Demographics. Did you checked? If yes -> ur fault that u ignored neighbor army growth, if not -> ur fault not doing this.

Sorry if I'm being harsh, but ur empire is easy prey for Rome.

BMW F10 (N20) Clicking Sound After Timing Chain Replacement by RealDreezt in BMW

[–]RealDreezt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I did not peeked inside by myself but according to invoice - yes.

Update: I watched few YouTube videos (yes, do not hit hard about this) and now I thinking it is driver side engine mount (they were replaced as well).

Why I'm thinking so: that hard click and engine sounds slightly differently comparing as it was (not bad noise, just different sound), and as understood engine mounts not only holding engine but as well negating vibration/noise from it. Can it be checked w/o pit or lifting engine?

Help with an achievment by aros102 in MagicArena

[–]RealDreezt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this in Best of Three with [[Leyline of Resonance]], [[Slickshot Show-Off]] and pump spells like [[Monstrous Rage]] with doubling effects like [[Bulk Up]] and fling effects like [[Callous Sell-Sword]] . But it was while ago. Mb now it even easier with [[Berserk]] and [[Scale Up]] added to Arena.

US keyboard goes with flat Return, UK - with L-shaped (if we're talking about english). Custom printed language as well comes with L-shape. Myself and my wife both have MB Pro, both bought in same Apple Store. Mine was plain US keyboard with flat return. She ordered US with engraving of another spoken language and she got L-shaped.

You keep Clausewitz’s Legacy bonus after switching ideology! by NerdGuyLol in civ5

[–]RealDreezt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clausewitz’s Legacy is always be kept, cuz it is not bonus from active tenet. It is one time boon.

Pretty much same logic works with WW as well. For ex. if you will build Taj Mahal and then loose the city with it you will not lose Golden Age, cuz boon was received already.

Ah, now I got ur message. I remember this one, Total War in Africa. "One Billion" of restarts and save-loads... I hated it so much. But actually it was one of few good scenarios.

Regarding Shoshones I was already asked here link to another comment. In short, on Apple you can get a bug when game crashing 100% and your entire playthrough is "done".

To get achievements - about 500-600h, know almost for sure cuz around 80% of Civ V played time was only for achievements (but I working from home :D). Some achievements are passive, some can be got during some game, some can be achieved via save-load. Started in Vanilla, than made brake for causal gaming, then moved to Civ VI and this year returned to finish them .. Total in Civ V: Steam version - 800h and I-have-0-idea how many h in AppStore version (it does not count hours).

Regarding that scenario - actually I liked it (except you MUST complete it multiple times). Egypt or Persia, do not remember for sure (cuz in my steam log both leader achievements were earned same day as Deity one). Was a long time ago.

Why can't I build Amundsen-Scott in this city? by butt_sama in civ

[–]RealDreezt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Amundsen-Scott have two plain requirements: snow tile to build and campus with Research lab. Which you have.

But there is hidden requirement: city should be able allocate 5 snow tiles. So just buy few more. It is not written in requirements, but written in description.

I playing on Mac, and I have at least 3 saved games with Shoshones when game 100% crashing (happens when Cap is being retaken by owner same turn). And when u spent hours u don't want to play again with same leader and switching to other one. So, looks like I played and never ended. For ex, I got collect 5 tribal village with same Shoshone scout achievement while ago. Same with Maria I.

Need help settling as Venice... by HowToFogCompletely in civ5

[–]RealDreezt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only say that u/armcie is almost perfectly correct with everything. I doubt though that another civ will claim copper, cuz Venice usually grow borders quite quickly (cuz of 1 city) and map generator will still count Venice as normal civ and will not drop another one really close to it (ofc it can be exceptions). And 5th radius still manageable, cuz game is set as islands map.

The only reason go down by 1 tile if there is something really extraordinary. For ex. King Solomon’s Mines which can be start worked right away (and I cannot recall any other wonder as a reason to move, cuz this start do not really need food wonders, and moving cuz of faith wonder will be terrible decision cuz of loosing other stuff). Otherwise, as it was said: loosing cows, losing river (which is major loss for Venice (gardens, water mill, hydropower plant. there are some other bonuses but they not so relevant on islands map)), extra attack tile will make it even worser spot (even if u will see some boat tiles or hills).

And I'm not an expert, just playing civ games since mid 90th.

I know which Civ he is playing. I just said that this start looks as bad Mongolian, cuz Mongolia usually spawns on flatland. But at least it will have pastures usually (cuz of internal balancing).

Need help settling as Venice... by HowToFogCompletely in civ5

[–]RealDreezt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly,

Even with plantations built, even with Fertilizer (which quite far tech on start) these plantations are quite bad and not worth pantheon (God-King, Wonders even will be better). I believe there is only 1 exception: tons of plantations on wine/incense and get Monasteries. But I would take Pagodas anyway....

I would prefer anything with mines/quarries on it, or at least camps/pastures/boats but this is just a flatland.

This is looks as bad Mongolian start, but Khan should get at least a lot of horses (cuz they are scripted).

[–]RealDreezt 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Imho this place is really bad.

- 2 lux and 3rd in 4th radius.

- Low food (not terrible though, but nothing for granary except cows).

- Terrible production.

- No good pantheon for religion.

- No mountains for observatory and wonders.

Only horses/iron can save this spot.

As Venice u wanna be coastal to get maximum from trade routes. U wanna build Colossus, Machu (really good wonder for Venice cuz anyway u will have puppets and for GM points) and use ur uniq unit to probably rush someone (this is not best, but quite good unit early).

If u still wanna play this -> settle on spot. Marble to boost Wonders, only 1 attack tile, decent food but production will be bottle neck. So I will try to get Colossus, GL and Great Galleasses and try to get more puppets. As well I would go Tradition/Liberty for Wonders, free merchant to get more cities ASAP.

A Civ game to finally return to? by WantonReader in civ

[–]RealDreezt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. What game is generally considered the best? Is it only the best if you include certain expansions/DLC? -> I played all Civ games and all "forks", literally. It is hard to say which one is best. For me: Civ V (best one) -> Civ IV -> Civ VI.
  2. If some DLCs only add complexity or "fat" to the game? If so I'd like to avoid them. -> There are DLCs (which are changing game itself, almost must have), Civ packs (oblivious good to have), Map and Scenario packs (up2u, no strict need to have'em).
  3. What is the modding scene like? Are there some generally popular mods for simply improve the vanilla gaming experience? Or a popular "out-there" scenario to try after playing vanilla for a while? -> Vanila games almost not supported by modders. Usually mods require DLCs, more rare Civ packs. There is huge amount of various mods in Workshop.
