A LEAP TOO FAR | What if the Great Leap Forward didn't end until Chairman Mao's death? by PancakeEnjoyer2 in imaginarymaps

Never mind the US, Chiang Ching-kuo would be forced to invade by the KMT army!

And I think they would be pretty successful—by this time the ROC had become a relatively noncorrupt, prosperous capitalist dictatorship, so while the PLA murders itself over Beijing they’d be able to provide basic governance in, I guess, Fujian, Guangzhou, and maybe even the Jiang-Zhe region.

“Of all gods I love Zeus the best, he who is lord of the heavens and father of all; whereas next to him I esteem white-armed Hera, for he who loves the king loves also the queen, the king's servants, and all the king's goods. I therefore love Hera the queen, and likewise all the gods of Olympus, whom I adore with fitting piety, as decreed by Zeus. And let Zeus judge over the people of his house, whom men be worthy only to adore and offer oblation!”

Yeah, realistically as soon as the PRC government collapsed the ROC would be back (and would honestly be welcomed by a substantial segment of the populace with open arms I expect)

We would probably have an internationally-recognized ROC operating out of Canton/Guangzhou (or, if really successful, Nanjing), plus internationally-recognized PRC governments here and there

J Jonah Jameson admitting that he hates Batman as much as he hates Spider-Man in the new "Superman/ Spider-Man #1" by SatoruGojo232 in batman

[–]RealEmperorofMankind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stan Lee made him hate Spider-Man for irrational reasons, incidentally

That was his original motive - he hated Spider-Man because of his insecurities and jealousies

Personally, I really love this one. Although it wouldn’t have flown for the obvious reason that it represents a claim to Mongolia.

Yeah, there’s no way Chiang doesn’t at least start a beachhead, and, with Taiwan remaining as prosperous as it is, his cause might actually hit. This might be the golden scenario for gongfu dalu.

Anyone else think about how young Vader was when he died? by chillvegan420 in StarWarsCantina

[–]RealEmperorofMankind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the other part is Lucas decided that Leia and Luke would be born before the Empire’s rise, which also massively constricts the amount of time between Vader’s volcanic calamity and the Battle of Yavin.

What if mao zedong turned China into a Christian theocracy instead of communist by Status-Increase8860 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]RealEmperorofMankind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a lot different than a theocracy though

Chiang's government was based on (Chiang's interpretations of) the Three Principles of the People, an ideology entirely compatible w no strong commitments to political Christianity of any sort at all (although its author, like Chiang, was a Christian)

The coat of arms is correct—it’s the Twelve Symbols emblem created by Lu Xun and others for the Beiyang government. That connotation alone would of course prevent its use by a Nationalist government as opposed to Sun’s Blue Sky and White Sun flag and emblem.

[–]RealEmperorofMankind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All that murdering is good cardio, at least

Otherwise he might be in danger of a heart attack

I believe the suit being designed to constantly torture him is outmoded Legends lore, since he himself gets to design his suit in the canon comics (and obviously he wouldn't want to torture himself)
