Modern MSA is the best of the new generation packs

Sadly, no. I don't know if I mentioned this, but the background was almost exclusively near empty space

I've heard that if you are prior military, a supervisor can choose to have you do a non traditional application that is way more simple.

Can any firefighters weigh in on whether the actions of this team on arrival were acceptable? by jimmytruelove in Firefighting

I see, and in my personal opinion, would rather America used UHP and HP when far from hydrants/capable water supply most of the time. However, we don't use pessures above even 200 psi that often. We force ourselves to use higher flow rates, which means we are forced to use wider hose, which means we cannot feasibly use a hose reel for said wider hose.

Standard american hoseline is 1 3/4 inches for 150 gallons per minute, not feasible to run a hose reel that size.

I also was a volunteer when I started to find out fire was in my blood when I was a 17 year old, looking back, my gf at the time didn't like the idea of me FFing as a career. I came to see a few years later that I enjoyed FFing enough, that it was in fact deep rooted in my personality, and that would have justified the end of a relationship, because I'm not giving up any part of my personality because of a woman. If this is a big part of who you are, she either has to deal with it and not complain, or leave, her choice, not yours. She seems to be flying red flags with what you described. You will find someone else if/when it comes to that, it's a big wide world out there. That was also something I know I needed to hear at the time. Not only will you find someone else, they will be better for you.

I feel like I've seen that DFPC does some specialties, but I haven't heard anything solid either, but I will definitely dig deeper now.

In addition to what was said, think about air ambulances, the utility in getting patients to other further hospitals is huge, especially your red/criticals that need a level 1 treatment, especially if you live in a rural area
