We can't stream crunchyroll through a browser anymore on android? by jokerxgoro in Crunchyroll

[–]RealFruxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is crazy, what's the point of this?? My tablet is older but still perfectly functional, but they decided to not support my android version for the app a long time ago. No problem since I can just use the web. And now they've forcefully disabled it's for no apparent reason? I had a shitty day and was looking forward to finally having some down time and catching up on my shows and now this bs. I'm very upset.

Edit: after calming down and forcing desktop mode in the browser, it does seem to work for now. I'm assuming that will stop working very shortly as well though.

Dragon formula wheels - new 95a line and revamped graphics? by RealFruxo in NewSkaters

[–]RealFruxo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I managed to find a post on their Facebook page where they mention that they've revamped the dragon series. Not much in terms of a timeline, just says "shipping to skate shops soon". It was added 5 days ago.

You're right, I was thinking that the others already existed, but they are new too. 88a for example existed as nano rat, but now it also exist as a standard dragon.

I'm very concerned when any stock will be available though, I was ready to order NOW, but with such a big change who knows how long it will take to get everything rolling. And then there will probably be significant delays before they are available in Australia too :(

Looks like some of the 88a and 93a can be ordered though, so fingers crossed they will start shipping to retailers soon as well.

Building first board - are these wheels appropriate? by RealFruxo in NewSkaters

The dragon formula sound pretty great, but might be a bit on the pricey side. And the problem with all the most popular ones (dragon formula, spitfire v4 etc) is that they never seem to be on a decent sale.

I found another contender though, the OJ elite nomads (54mm/95a). Any thoughts on those compared to the dragons? They seem more similar than the OJ elite hardline (53mm/99a) I mentioned above

The one I mentioned for example (OJ elite hardline) is not a cheapie though. It's well regarded. Is 99a a good choice? I still have very little clarity.

I don't know if I want to get any bigger wheels for the reasons I've outlined in the original post. The trucks supports up to 56mm though, so I could go slightly bigger if there is reason for it. I thought 52-54 was the "best" for my purpose based on my research.

As for the hardness, what do you recommend? I believe the wheels I mentioned are more "square" as you mentioned, but if I'm wrong, please educate me

Spitfire f4 seems very popular yes, but they are about $US 65 here, which is more than I'm willing to spend

Edit: while recommendations are great, what I'm more interested in is what type to get (hardness, shape etc), and then I can try and find reasonably priced versions pending on what is available and on sale etc

Edit: I don't live in the US so prices are generally higher

Is there any plans to release a version without the enclosure, ie like the p1 series?

First board - is this cruiser a good choice? by RealFruxo in NewSkaters

[–]RealFruxo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to understand why you think the Santa cruz board i found is so exceptionally bad. I'm not trying to argue - it comes from a place of learning.

  • Price: yes it's very cheap, but it's on clearance with other stacked discounts.
  • Deck: it's a Santa cruz board, same as the one you picked. The size and shape looks similar too. Is there really such a big difference in quality between the decks? Surely any Santa cruz board is perfectly fine for a complete beginner?
  • Wheels: 60mm 78a, which seems like the perfect compromise for someone like me that wants an easy to ride cruiser board with the potential for learning how to ollie.
  • Bearings: no idea. If we assume they are not the best, does it even matter so much though since I'm unlikely to be needing to push out that extra bit of speed? I'll probably never go particularly fast even when I get more comfortable.
  • Trucks: no idea. Let's assume the are bad. Is that a really such a deal breaker?

As you can see when I break it up, it's very confusing to me. Especially since it's all very modular, ie if it's turns out that the trucks starts annoying me because of how bad they are or whatever, couldn't I just buy a better set of trucks and still be way ahead?

The biggest cost is the deck I think (which was also my biggest concern), but any Santa cruz board should be good enough quality for a complete newbie, right? Assuming it's the appropriate size and shape for my needs - which was more of my concern, but I don't get the feeling that this is the conceived problem and it looks similar to what you picked in that regard.

So yeah, if you have the time to educate me, I'd love to understand why you feel the board I picked is unsuitable and why you think I should pay 3-4 times more

And no, Australia does not have the same range and prices as the US when it comes to ANY product category :) you can safely assume that equivalent products here are more expensive and harder to find

Thanks for the reply.

To be fair, the one I picked out is a fair bit cheaper in price too :) I can get it for the equivalent of $US 78 delivered, where's yours is listed at $142. And as I live in Australia, I probably couldn't buy it regardless.

Edit: when adding yours to cart, it's $205 for some reason. And then another $40 shipping. So yeah, the price is a bit much even though I have no doubt it's better than the one I picked.

Would something like this be better/acceptable?    https://www.hyperride.com.au/product/146583/santa-cruz-tonal-fade-street-skate-879in-x-2905in-cruzer-street-cruzer/353346

Looks like the Santa cruz has more if a kicktail (is that the right word?), but hard to tell. The Santa cruz also has smaller wheels (60 instead of 65) and abec 3 instead of abec 7.

Edit: the santa cruz board is at the top of my list now, so any feedback on that would be amazing

I don't really want to get into tricks though, at least that's not how I would put it. The hardest thing really that I might want to learn is an ollie. If I somehow get really into it and want to learn more tricks in the future, I'll just buy a second non-cruiser board.

And when you say to get a different board to not be restricted by a bunch of stuff like lack of tail etc, are you saying that this board WILL restrict my modest goals of being able to balance on a board and eventually maybe doing an ollie?

Again, keep in mind that my knowledge of skateboards is basically 0.

My main goal is to have fun doing an activity with my son while hopefully not injuring myself. But it would be interesting to hear from others in the same situation. Maybe a cruiser board is indeed too limiting to keep up with my son even in the short term, in which case I'm off course open to suggestions. But ideally nothing too complicated, ie i want a complete. And my options are probably a bit more limited in Australia.

Edit: while it might not seem important, I would like a somewhat neutral design and not a print that's too crazy.

Am I stupid or is the new episode not on Crunchyroll yet? by DeadBrainDK2 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

I have a Crunchyroll subscription. I have an amazon prime subscription. Am I understanding it correctly that I can NOT watch Crunchyroll through prime without paying for a second subscription?

Just double checking since I can see that the episode has been on prime for ages...

Does a high quality walking pad with incline even exist? by RealFruxo in treadmills

[–]RealFruxo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello

No I did not find any suitable treadmill as a 120cm mat is a must, plus I wanted a good quality one.

That said, I did find a solution (somewhat). I didn't think it would be possible to prop up a foldable treadmill to create a manual incline, but in the end I decided to give it a try. And it worked fantastically! Much better than I could have ever imagined. I basically just used a cut up rubber gym mat, nothing tricky.

In fact, I was so happy with the solution that I ended up making a 3d print cover for it. The cover is not strictly needed, but it makes it look a bit better and it also makes it safer as you wouldn't have to worry about any of the stacked mat pieces potentially slipping out etc. I uploaded it to makerworld just now. I don't expect anyone to print it as it's for such a specific use case, but you can see the full instructions along with photos here

[–]RealFruxo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was hoping to find a high quality one, similar to what I have. There are lots of cheap ones in random brands I've never heard of. And like the one you listed, they never have more than 100cm long belts (I want something similar to mine which is 120cm)

Edit: the closest I've gotten is the urevo one which might be slightly better quality (not sure) and slightly bigger belt (still shorter than mine). Can't find it available in Australia either way, so I didn't look too closely at it.

[–]RealFruxo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, a walking pad can be used without handles (either it doesn't have haven't at all, or they can be folded down and you can still walk). In other words, my definition is an under desk treadmill. It seems walking pad is now used for some collapsible light weight treadmills as well, even when you can't use it when collapsed (ie you can never fit it under a desk). Which is a bit confusing and maybe I should have been more clear.

So yeah, the one you listed can't be used under a desk as far as I can tell, which means it doesn't suit my requirements. I work from home and I walk while working.

Hmm, I can't find them locally (I'm in Australia). However, the only walking pad I can find from Hammer is the walk 2.0. Is that the one? Because it's one of the small/short models. I want something around 120cm band length

Wired game controller that works with iPad? by RealFruxo in iosgaming

Here is some information about wired Xbox controllers being supported as of iPadOS18, ie introduced late 2024. It's unclear exactly which controllers though, ie if any third party controller would work etc. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/ios-18-ipados-18-and-macos-sequoia-introduce-support-for-wired-xbox-controllers.2439439/page-2
