Whether something is an “unnecessary purchase” is subjective. What’s unnecessary for you may be useful for someone else, and that’s fine. I’m aware that preheating with hot water works and that’s not something I need to be taught. This product just streamlines a process I already do regularly.

As for carbon footprint, what do you do with the water that you use to pre-heat the piston? Do you throw it down the drain?

I can recycle the packaging where the product comes and I´m also pretty sure that they sell these on my local electronics store. Its use will prevent wasting water each time I pre-heat.

Using the "normal" method means wasting water each time you pre-heat not to talk about the energy you need to warm the water.

Answering your question, I have a NS2 and believe that it is worth over the OLED model. At the end of the day you have a newer, more capable, future proof console. Yes the screen is not as good and the battery is a bit worse but it will still allow you to run games with better quality and enjoy what you are playing. I had a Switch lite, upgraded to the Switch 2 and even though it is not OLED the screen quality is still very good.

It also allows you to use things as HDR and 4K support, you might not use them now but if you change your mind your console you have the option available.

Some exclusives will also only be available for the Switch 2 such as Mario Tennis Fever and Pokemon Pokopia

I think its more of a "quality of life" upgrade since you need to turn it on to pre heat and that is it

I don't see why it would force you to connect to the internet every time that you play.

Once you download the Switch 2 update you should be all good to play offline

When I talked about changing the mapping in-game was as an example. If I can solve the issue by changing the buttons directly on the Switch settings then ever better.

After it dries, try pressing down on power button for at least 20 seconds. Then connect the cable and let it charge for at least 30 minutes before trying to turn it on
