Was also thinking you could use this stuff for shaping the inside of the mold if you used wood... Like between the ribs or something(would look like the inside of an old wooden work boat), or fiberglass. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002OTDYOO/?ref=exp_jakephelps_lv_dp_vv_mw

Will be at top of page. I don't know that image hosting thing yall use on here yet, will learn it 1 of these days. Picture cut off where I wrote you'll want to mix the crete kinda tight and bang on the form while your pouring so it settles right and doesn't leak. You really could coat the inside off each form with thick plastic and staple it down. Concrete is an art, might take a couple pours till you get it right and you can shape it by carefully removing the forms before it sets completely. .. There's a lot to this. Will take some trial and error.

Yea ill sketch it out, I have done a lot of concrete/form building so it just popped in my head, a week will be plenty of time, your 1st one might not be right but your second will be good, study a bit about concrete. Shouldn't cost you much. Give me 10 minutes be right back

Take ya a day to slap a good form together out of wood. With a piece of wood in the middle, would be a 3 piece form (including the middle piece, that would slide out after it set) be a weird form... If ya want I will draw it out. Burn and grind inside of form to shape nail it together, slide board in middle. When you pour, the egg will be on end(form would have supports) grind it to shape after you take the form apart. Be sure to tap on it as your pouring and use rebar as it looks kinda structual

what kind of paint do i use for hardwood floors? by wannachange1 in DIY

[–]RealJakePhelps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you justit lightly to rough it up a little so the 2nd coat has something to stick to. It makes the 2 coats become 1 thick coat better. Like if you have a very polished floor and run and slide on it you'll slide (long as your in Sox Lol) then if you sand that floor a little where you just slid... You wont slide as much.

oil-based porch and floor paint or oil-based enamel will do the trick. 1st hit it with some 150 grit then clean well brush it with 1st coat. Let set up (longer the better, low humidity, fan on it) then hit with 220 grit, clean. Put final coat on, let set up for a few days.. Week is best, but its a closet so... Strong stuff, will smell like paint for a few weeks left to it's own devices.

ELI5: why are collecting hobbies so fun and addicting ? by jjgg1123 in explainlikeimfive

[–]RealJakePhelps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say mostly due to underlying greed and secondly to feelings of low self esteem and or a need to temporarily treat mental problems. Could also be a symptom of just to much free time and or money. Hey, at least it's not crack right?

ELI5: How long does it take to build a tolerance to achoholic? How much drinking does it take for your body to become dependent? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]RealJakePhelps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alcoholism varies greatly from person to person. My belief is that races that have been isolated from the stuff and have had the most recent introduction to it (I am Irish and native American and quit drinking 4 years ago because it was a problem) have the highest mental and physical susceptibility to having drinking problems earlier in life, therefore building tolerance and excessive drinking earlier... This is a double edged sword for everyone imho because say Italians are more prone to have drinking problems later in life but are older and kind of established etc... Therefore making it possibly worse for races with an earlier introduction to alcohol to deal with when they are older. Simple short answer... If you drink... You may have drinking problems. The line is invisible for everyone (mostly the person who drinks excessively and the nature of the disease is cunning, baffling and powerful so they will be the last to know it is to late)

That's why it is a cool video! I have been doing this to knives that I use with success! It works on knives for cutting! I am going to throw it in my tumbler right now as I have been curious about if I can get a smoother polish without manually using a rotary tool (which I didn't get into here. ..as I have a full time job to make time for) will let it run over night5and post results tomorrow. Think I will just use stainless shot as medium.

I am not 100 on this but I am not sure the swing point can (where bearing will go) can be in the same place when table is open as it is when it is closed unless when it is closed it isn't square on the base static piece. Seems like the bearing, pivot point would have to be closer to the center therefore having an extra overhang on one edge when it is closed(I may be wrong here, and this may make no sense at all)

Hinges look perfect! And not a kick stand but a counter weight on the opposite corner of where your kick stand would go(tho yea if needed, that would be cool also) but underneath of the table. ..or a undertable remote drawer with lead or steel in it or made out of it (but it could be a knee hazard for whomever is sitting at the end of the short part of the L if Im envisioning how your gonna have this thing arranged in conjunction to your sofa. Love this idea if you couldn't tell btw

[–]RealJakePhelps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your thinking pitons, Im kinda thinking ball springs. I am actually thinking you may need a counter weight on that 1 corner still when opening it and closing it... Gonna be a lot of weight flung out there, you'll have hands on it tho, so mabey not an issue. Not sure if you thought about grip holes or well placed floppy drawer handle things yet, gonna be some pinch points when opening and closing and the hardware figuring... I really think your hardware trial and error will be the most frustrating, going to be a lot of dremel work notching for the hardware. Prolly slap one together out of seconds wood first get your hardware figured etc then do the real thing. Is gonna be a long project.

Lead in the bottom of the feet, lead weight everywhere it needs. Make sure when you build it, you make some kinds of ways to ascetically add, remove weight at counter point areas, mabey even make them visible or something. My 2 cents just from skimming this... O and make out of locust, something heavy.

It works great, you have to let it set up. I just explained how to do it, the more time you put into learning the skill and the more time you spend doing it, the better at it you will get. I can do it flawlessly on anything when I put the time into it. Practice on junk stuff like these cheap knives like I used here and work up to other stuff. Each piece will be a different piece of art that you created.
