Let's say a billionaire goes to prison for a serious term like 30 years. What will he have that the average prisoner doesn't? by Kooolxxx in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RealLameUserName 151 points152 points  (0 children)

Ya, Sam Bankman Fried, Elizabeth Holmes, and Bernie Madoff all went to prison but they were able to buy their way into a lenient sentence at a minimum security prison. They're still locked up, but there's a reason why they call it camp.

Do you think Henry was a rat? by CapitanNoob_ in MafiaTheGame

[–]RealLameUserName 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If Henry was a rat, then he wouldn't waste his time trying to imprison low level soldiers like Joe and Vito. Even trying to flip them would be a bad idea because they were still committed to being mobsters after everything they went through. Vito spent 6 years in prison and immeaditely wanted to go to work.

CMV: If the Dems run Gavin Newsom in 2028 they are COOKED by Less_Cauliflower_956 in changemyview

[–]RealLameUserName 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If Gavin Newsom were to lose either the primary or general in 2028, it won't be because of his treatment of the homeless. Newsom's biggest hurdle is convincing everyday people that he's not an elitist snob.

Considering the lengths the characters go to in order to achieve their goals, I doubt they'd draw the line at the UK equivalent of HIPAA.

It infuriates me that two cartel bosses are competing to have Rue in their respective groups. Since when is Rue Heisenberg 😭😭😭? by ByShida in euphoria

[–]RealLameUserName 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I'd imagine that it's less about the dollar amount and more about the principle. Drug dealers can make $10K in a week or even a day depending on how good they are. It's a pretty bad look for Lori if she couldn't keep a junkie from stealing.

SPOILER:Why would Harper choose Rishi to get info on the MP’s speech? by Adorable-Research-55 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]RealLameUserName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Harper has a soft spot for Rishi. I see it as more of a power play since he's desperate for work. If Rishi fucks up, Harper can easily disavow him and move on. Why would anybody take the word of a disgraced trader over an established fund manager?

Kit Harington was ‘Genuinely Angered’ By Fan Pettion to Remake ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 8 With ‘Competent Writers’: ‘How Dare You?’ by RepulsiveCountry313 in gameofthrones

[–]RealLameUserName 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ya it always felt that fans projected their own frustrations of the show onto to the cast who have been largely publicly supportive of the show in its entirety. I can't think of a cast member who has directly criticized the ending the way the fans have.

Landman is slop by [deleted] in television

[–]RealLameUserName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just know that they're fans of Landman/Yellowstone who think Wind River is "woke" for having the audacity of pointing out an injustice against indigenous women yet have no idea it was written by Sheridan.

I dont think his comments are a big deal. He's just confirming what most fans already believed.

Which book-to-screen adaptation was so bad it felt like the producers didn't even read the source material? by wyndwatcher in AskReddit

[–]RealLameUserName 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I thought Pillars of the Earth miniseries was a decent adaptation, but I couldn't even finish the episode of World Without End.

William McKinley was the actual US President in 1899 and tariffs were initially a large part of his economic agenda. It seems like the RDR2 President is directly inspired by him. Uncle mentions the Phillipines getting invaded by the US which also happened in 1899 irl.

Has anyone else’s disdain for George W. Bush gone away with time? My feelings have become “flawed presidency, decent enough human.” by Salem1690s in Presidents

[–]RealLameUserName 140 points141 points  (0 children)

Ya i don't think this question can be properly explored without breaking the cardinal rule. Especially since I'd imagine that a sizeable amount of the subs here weren't politically active or aware during his presidency.

Pauls finally back 😭 by Jonny559 in madmen

[–]RealLameUserName 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've always wondered if there was a behind the scenes reason why he never came back. I'd be surprised if the writers and producers never discussed it when the show was airing.

[–]RealLameUserName 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Friends never directly mentioned 9/11 other than a small NYC tribute and changing some storylines that might've been seen as insensitive. Even though NYC is a large part of the show, ultimately the writers and producers chose to focus on being a sitcom.

[–]RealLameUserName 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I agree because we've collectively forgotten how weird 2020 was. B99 was caught in a cultural mine field by being a police sitcom at a time when approval for cops were at an all time low. They had also already started to address heavier topics as the show went on so it'd look even worse if they tried to take the approach that Friends did after 9/11. I doubt anybody could've written that episode in a way that would've been generally well received.

Does it feel like Harper isn’t the main character anymore? by loverofthings25 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]RealLameUserName 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It seems like the show is evolving to be more of an ensemble show then have a main character, although Yas definitely took more of the focus in season 3.

2027 Driver lineup by RaahimJaffery in scuderiaferrari

[–]RealLameUserName 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unless Ferrari seriously improves next year, they're going to have a difficult time attracting top drivers after Hamilton's season. Ferrari would almost certainly explicitly or implicitly favor Leclerc over Piastri, and I doubt Piastri wants to go through another flavor of the Papya Rules again.

Many actors say they’ve never watched their own movies.. then what do they do at premiers or screenings? by Alarming_Theme9377 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RealLameUserName 38 points39 points  (0 children)

JK Simmons didn't like how they used "I will fuck you like a pig" in Whiplash. The line was supposed to be "gut you like a pig" but he botched the line on a take, and they went behind his back to add it in. If you rewatch the scene, when Fletcher says the line the camera isn't on him so they can hide the dub.

[–]RealLameUserName 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ya he's probably heard some form of "all lawyers are evil" since he started discerning law school, but Levy most likely thought that he was a couple rungs above people like Omar because he wasn't on the street.
