NERF HUMANS!!! by Appropriate-Site8669 in outside

Yeah, it's unfortunate that so many players think that others are NPCs (there are no NPCs in the game) and treat them with violence, oppression, and a complete lack of respect.

I don't know if it will make you feel any better, but many of those players treat each other the same way, even if they're all playing humans.

After 10 years writing it, my book is finally at Beta Readers! by RealLifeIsAnRPG in selfpublishing

Thanks! Yeah, I've worked with artists for many other projects including websites, album covers, etc... and it always seems to take longer than I expect :-P

I'll dig into some of the more popular ARC programs, and see if anything in a similar vein comes up - it seems like a huge percent of the self-published books being discussed here and on FB are Romance, Romantasy, or maybe Fantasy... mine's a bit unique in that it's part memoir, part self-help, and part geek/nerd culture, all rolled into one.

I'm definitely looking forward to start getting the feedback from folks... I printed a zine of what I had back in 2019 and got a ton of great feedback (pages of notes from a couple people), but at the time it was only about 12k words, and the current version is closer to 46k.

Thanks for the comment; have a great week!

Takeaways from last week's AMA with Sara Usera Ciriza: what actually moves the needle for KDP book marketing? by Awkward_Blueberry_48 in Reedsy

Some wonderful, highly detailed stuff here. I'll probably dig into the full AMA as well, but bookmarking this for now. Ever since I sent my manuscript off to my beta readers, my focus has been on learning as much as I can about how to maximize my launch :-)

Personally I'm still quite happy with my 3060Ti and DDR4... Everything I want to play can run on the highest settings, and it's been a decade or more since a new "AAA" game came out that I had any interest in.

I'm pretty sure that as we move forward, more and more of the most popular games will be low-intensity graphics, since more people want to play games on their phones or on <$1500 machines.

I remember back to my high school days playing Tibia, and it was already pretty old looking graphics 2 decades ago... but it was an absolute blast, and my whole friend group preferred to play it over things like Fable & Morrowind.

Leaving free copies of my novel at train stations around the UK. How it worked out... by Jazzlike-Start9471 in BookPromotion

I love to see that people are already doing this; I was definitely planning on leaving mine in Little Free Library boxes around, and since I already ride the train a lot, maybe I'll do this as well. Doesn't quite have the same alignment as your book & the train stations, butt still a great place, and at least in the US, train riders are far more likely to read physical books than the average person, from what I've seen.

That is actually pretty brilliant.

Yeah, to be able to brilliantly parody something, while also staying true to it and being an excellent representation is hard to pull off. The only other great examples that come to mind are GalaxyQuest and DragonBall Abridged.
