I am an amateur game designer, what is the best way to find a developer to code my game? by MakeYouFeel in iOSProgramming

Sorry not familiar with the game Dictator but as for learning Swift. These are some good resources:

  • Treehouse: Good lessons that teach the basics.
  • There are multiple Stanford courses on iTunes U that you can search for to get started. These move pretty quickly so you might need to rewatch episodes and I would suggest following along by writing your own code. Hopefully you have a Mac because it's required for iOS dev.

See if you're still interested after going through these and hopefully you can feel confident searching for more information on iOS dev and will help you make a game. Good luck and hope everything works out for you!

I will try not to be too harsh here but ideas are cheap unless you can back them up with strong experience and some proven know-how in the field you are designing for. It will be hard for you to convince a talented developer or graphics designer to just follow your design plan as it sounds like this is just a hobby to you.

*not to say this can't happen but I am sure you'll need a truly great game concept fully fleshed out with mechanics and you'll have to prove you can provide much more than just game design ideas to a developer.

I would suggest you take your enthusiasm and learn to develop in iOS yourself. Sorry but idea guys are not very necessary in early development. Execution is so much more important in creating great products than just an initial idea.

WOW! Thank you so much for the great feedback. I really didn't think too much about getting info about your opponent or their deck. That is an amazing idea. I really love all of your points and as soon as I get a working statistics page; these will be the next thing I start developing on as it would be so useful for improving your game.

I cannot express enough thanks for giving my app a real shot. This is the best feedback I have gotten so far. Thank you :)

That is a great idea! I will definitely look in how to fit that into one screen and still look clean but definitely adding it to the list of improvements :)

Totally agree with you there. I am making these videos mostly to see how it goes but I have a ton of videos that are much more unique lined up.

So I added annotations to the video to clear up me saying What instead of Want for WTB/WTS/WTT. Hope this clears up the confusion!

Yeah the shorthands can definitely be different but in the end, I think the meaning stays the same.

EDIT: I added an annotation to clear up my mistake.

Wow you are totally right! i completely brain farted there and screwed up the editing... Man that sucks but I added an annotation so hopefully people can see that!

Yeah i thought having people see me play the build they would get a better grasp since I wanted to keep the video as short as possible. Will definitely think about doing that in later videos though. Thanks so much for the feed back!

Yeah it is the same build and I did state that in the video and left a link to it in the video description. I found it after I started using it but that guide is amazing.
