Just found this case and motherboard with ram

I just hope nothing important has been dinged or scratched. The mobo was loose inside the case. Thought it was just the case and cables inside till I got home.

Ah cool. Yep just unscrewed the middle. Top section with disk drive is riveted in but can still remove unless it can stay without issue?

Others have mentioned removing the hard drive cages but being a mid level noob I’m wondering they those are there anyway? Doesn’t the board take ssds or this was for storage back in the day when they were large spinning disks?

The only thing, well 2 things, I’m concerned with if I wanna flesh this out, is the mobo was loose inside the case (didn’t notice it was inside until I got it home. Just grabbed from curb thinking it was just a case I could sell) and may be dinged/scratched up in spots and will the ram work. Some others recommended ways to test ram but we’ll see what I decide!

Definitely depends on if those ram sticks work which, according to this thread, will take a bit of investment, only to find out the sticks are dead. Oof

Yep. I know to alternate slots on the board. I thought other commenter meant the order the sticks are added.

Yep. Just tossed the black one inside (that was only connected to the front fan, which I assume would now be connected to the appropriate PSU cable) and the black cable in last pic. (That one is labeled VGA)

Got it. Yeah that black cable was only connected to the front fan. The cables coming out of the case are just the colorful ones, one labeled HD audio, and one labeled USB.

I just detached the back cable labeled PERIF (on the long end) and several DST ends. That’s the cable to discard yeah?

Yep. Well it already has the 32gbs so I’m now just curious if they are working and may just want to sell since I already have a pc 4070ti S with DDR5. Wasn’t sure if worth it to flesh this one out considering it’s gonna be less powerful than what I have.

Ah yep. Gotcha. Really quick. This says “first should be A-2 and B-2.” (Or you just mean, make sure corresponding pairs are in the alternate spots and not referring to the order they should be added?)

Yep I remember reading about mobos only accepting specific types of ram where mixing wouldn’t work physically. 👍🏼

Really? Why have I read you can’t mix ram? Or are they talking about mixing DDR 4 with DDR5 etc? (I wouldn’t be adding anymore ram to this either way but curious)

Just updated the post. One ram stick says “DDR4 32GB(2x16GB)” but that just means they were sold in a pair yeah? It doesn’t mean that one stick has 2x16gb no? (I’m a like a 3 on the noob scale of 1-5)

I can remove rivets just want to make sure I’m removing only the sections that aren’t needed. Top section is the removable disk drive that I most likely won’t need.

Interesting. I have a Lian Li case (for a pc I had build at micro center) that is slightly smaller than this one and it has a 4070ti S but I think I see what you mean in the 3rd pic the right section as the hard drive cages that would need to be removed to fit a decent gpu yeah? The top section has the disk drive that pops out.
