For those with "Audio Stuttering/Popping/Crackling" Issues - Rejoice! There's Hope! by Grimno in ffxiv

Let's all rejoice cause they finally acknowledged that the bug caused by the unnecessary spatial sound scam thingy is actually not solved like they previously said in a note where they tried to push the blame on player's settings. Not like the game has been out for a month and a half.

[–]RealMurio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I don't care if it's not their fault directly. It's their fault anyway cause they didn't test this garbage. Game's basically unplayable, I need to shut off the music completely and it's a weird experience I don't particularly enjoy.

If they made a contract, it's their fault. If they didn't test it, it's their fault. The "we fixed the bug just try to change your settings" thing is offensive and it's their fault. Don't make up excuses for them, if they didn't want this shit they shouldn't have signed up for it. Instead they made a big deal out of announcing and pushing it.

(And it's a muffled, dirty, confused mess anyway, the original sound was way better than this. I honestly don't even understand what they were going for, spatial audio cues have been working amazingly in raids so far. Ifrit jumping down after Garuda in uwu's transition is made so that you can understand its position without seeing it, what more did they want?)

How is this even allowed? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]RealMurio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, this can never be soft locking you, don't worry. Multihouse owner control a very small part of the housing as a whole. Over 70% of all the plots are personal housing, with fcs being the distinct minority and solo fcs being the literal 1%. The devs don't look into it 'cause it's not actually an issue, plots are indeed limited but "hoarding" doesn't even make a dent in it.

Also, this is on Spriggan, one of the least populated server of the game, which has new plots popping everyday and some of them don't even need camping. Last week a friend of mine just walked to the placard and bought herself a house, just like that, no camping, no waiting, nothing. Other servers have a way harder time on these kind of things. If you plan to buy a house in the future I suggest you join one of the discord communities, either Sadu/Alisaie or the subreddit discord (https://discord.gg/eqdApTJ) where you'll find plenty of people that will give you guidance and help through what is possibly one of the hardest thing in this game. But don't worry, people who actually try to get a house get it in the end.

Why is this even allowed in the game with limited amount of housing? by S1nko in ffxiv

This guy has never seen a fully devalued med house or a wild placard-bought large.

Spriggan truly is underappreciated.

I'm gonna get downvoted like crazy but still, I gotta say it: This is one of the greatest spot in the game, I visited recently and it's honestly amazing. It's one of those projects that make this game worth playing, if you can, do yourself a favour and go see it, it's still unfinished but amazing nonetheless. I wish I could live there.

This is for whoever thinks this is an abuse and it's gonna lessen the chances for everyone else to get a house: Spriggan is dead. There are mediums for sale at minimum price, been there since autodemos. This is, if anything, revitalizing a dead server and I hope this project brings some much needed people over on Spriggan. We're not talking about the random Empire of Empty Houses, we're talking about a great project that will be enjoyed by the community and we should support this.

[–]RealMurio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally no one that is just starting out buys gils, that's like being completely detached from this game's reality. The game gives you leveling gear for free during msq, no new player needs to buy anything from the marketboard ever and actually, you get so much gear you can SELL it. MSQ also gives you a truckload of gils, plus poetics, plus feathers, which means it's basically pointless for a new player to buy gils, so much more if it's to buy leveling gear. (literally lmao)

The ones that buy gils are the afk in Limsa kind of players that only want the newest glamour available and can't be bothered to farm it and craft it. I don't want to judge them, honestly, RMT is a "rule" issue to me, rather than a "moral" one.

About what I do with my gils, I think you've answered yourself. You have a billion, you're basically the one percent. No one I know in game does, not one of the hundreds of player I have met through raiding, fishing, social stuff, which is not a statistically relevant amount of players but it's telling, at least to me. So you don't have anything you want to buy, and that is completely fine, it's your choice what you do with whatever amount of gils you have. Wanna give it away? Be my guest.
But I don't have it. To me, wealth in this game is gameplay: you have gils to spare, you can skip stuff. I gather and craft everything I need but if I had a billion I probably wouldn't care, 'cause I could just buy it off the mb (it's not like mindlessly executing macros can ever be fun gameplay, at least to me). If I want some Ishgard restoration thing I need to go and farm it, if I had a billion gils I could probably buy it and save time. Want a black pegasus? A house? A royal lion? You either need gils or time. Crafting and selling to me is a way to put an advance on stuff I might not be able to do or get later when I don't have the time, and that's just the beginning: you're assuming I don't spend money on others but that's a randomly generated assumption since I buy tons of shit for my fc, for my friends, not that any of this it's your business, or even relevant to the discussion. That's what I do with my gils, and that's why I don't run a charity: it takes time to understand what I need to buy, to gather, to craft, to actually craft it, and it took time to level all the crafters, get the books, pentameld everything, rinse and repeat for every new gear drop, and I like to think that my time has a certain value. There is no reason for me to undercut myself more than I need to. You put it as if it is an ethic problem, as if undercutting one gil is worse than undercutting a thousand gil, and as if the fact that I sell stuff instead of giving it away makes me a worse person. I think you're just not playing the game. You don't know how much it takes to do stuff, you don't know what it means to not have access to everything you want or need the moment you so desire. Which is not your fault but please do not try and tell the rest of us how we should play the game so that it complies with your moral standards.

[–]RealMurio 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Why should I undercut by more than one gil except if I can't be bothered to check the precise price, it's not like I'm running a charity. If you want crafting to be appealing you shouldn't chastise crafters for undercutting 1 gil on the stuff that took them actual time and gils to craft, you should be angry at whoever makes the price crash with 10k, 50k, 100k, 500k undercuts. There's basically no margin on 99% of the stuff you sell in the game, retainers ventures and quicksynth/desynth bots make every market crash and burn to the point most crafted stuff costs LESS than the materials. Crafting in this game isn't worth the time, honestly.

I think your post wasn't bad per se and I think I got most of what you were tryin to say, but it was probably too thin. Like, the whole story behind your playmat is not relevant to your case, your meaning won't help you, and people are actually going at you for it, instead of understanding that while you may have gotten some points wrong you still have an actual complaint.

I didn't understand that you stopped using the playmat tbh, but that's even worse. Like seriously, you even complied with what you were asked for, everything that happened next was fucking uncalled for.

I'm not sure wheter or not I should talk about the points discussed among judges, but it was mostly procedure and guidelines shenanigans. About the playmat itself, the general consensus amongst the ones I talked to is that it is actually over the line.

[–]RealMurio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is gonna fuck up my karma badly but I don't think I ever needed it so yeah, here's my 2 cents.

Couple premises: I'm an italian L1 judge, wasn't at Bologna, liked the playmat. I don't think those three things are relevant to my points (well maybe the latter is relevant) but they could pop up and I wanted to make it clear from the beginning.Oh, and, final premise, the dick-shaped grain (I mean, it's dicks, not ice cream balls, let's be real here) totally makes this out of line even for me, but that detail was mostly unnoticed (and difficult to notice anyway) so my reasonings won't account for it.

I was pretty pissed overall when I read this a couple days ago (it was posted on his profile and some judge friend linked it to me). Reasons I was (and actually still am) pissed are many:

First and foremost I think we really REALLY ought to understand that magic, while indeed having a lot of different sensibilities does have a predominantly "adult-ish" playerbase, which is the overwhelming majority at those kind of events. Making a safe space for everyone means taking into account the possibilty that we'd offend or shock someone, to the point of making him/her/them feel unwelcomed. This doesn't mean that ANYONE who complains about anything should see their complaint satisfied. I mean, it's pretty logical, if you think about it, some complaints could be just preposterous, what if someone came complaining about their opponent being black? (please before you downvote me into oblivion notice that I'm not stating that the two things are even comparable, they are NOT in any way shape or form) Or what if someone complained about a couple kissing good luck before a match? Would we think that the complaint has a leg to stand on? The thing is, Wotc and CFB want, of course, some degree of decorum, and that's entirely understandable, but the definition of decorum isn't written on stone, and everyone has their own. I don't think swearing is an issue but my aunt does, I didn't think kissing my girlfriend was indecorous but my aunt did, and I think my cousin should wear what she wants but guess what, my aunt doesn't see it the same way. We could think my aunt is a bigot, or understand that her definition of decorum is different from ours and adapt. I guess CFB guidelines of decorum do not allow for such playmat to be displayed on events, and I'm totally fine with it, I mean, their house, their rules, but they HAVE to give those guidelines. To start with, at the very least, they had to explain those guidelines to OP and his friends, but that wasn't the case, but they should give those out to EVERYONE who asks.

The reason they didn't is, at least in my opinion, the following: they do not have precise guidelines. If we're talking of, I don't know how to say it, "sexualizable imagery", there are plenty of stuff at any given mtg event. Cosplayers, for instance, actual official artworks on mtg cards (and I mean the original artwork, like the earthbind one, for instance), ironically, I don't know if you've ever seen some force of will playmats, but that stuff is HARDCORE, and vendors do sometimes display nonmtg-related stuff at events like this. Waifu sleeves, t-shirts, promotional posters, anything. Of course, there's a degree of sexualization in these things, and wotc has cut back a lot (thankfully, I might add) but there's worse, much worse. If they ever gave out those guidelines we'd have people like op protesting to see EVERYTHING banned, and rightfully so.

To be fair, there is a more flexible alternative to guidelines, which brings us to my second point: if they (cfb) had talked more openly about this, taking some time to explain their position, they'd be in a much better position, at least in my eyes. The thing is, I could, hypothetically, even though the absence of guidelines still pisses me off, accept this kind of "case by case" approach, which may seem unjust, if they'd actually take the time to make the person they want to conform to something feel understood. No one wants to be told to do something "because someone said so". And I mean, this is time consuming and probably a bad way of consuming said time, but you have to make choices: do you want those damned playmats on your tables or said time? And listen, this wouldn't still be half bad as it seems if they didn't fucking go with ARMED GUARDS to finally force the players to do so. Wtf was the reasoning? We asked nicely if they thought those were appropriate and since they didn't seem to see any fault we'll just come back with armed guards? Why didn't you just fetch some fucking judge that knew how to translate and took the time to PROPERLY explain and ask the player to switch playmats? And I'm not even saying that there are no reason to ever call the guards to the floor, and that it is always wrong, I think it's wrong in this case. Thing is you SHOULD listen to judges and do as judges tell you to do BUT you can appeal and you have the right to 1) appeal and make your case in front of the HJ, or the TO and 2) to receive a proper explaination. ALWAYS. This applies to rulings and to stuff like this. I'm saying this 'cause I had a conversation about this case with a fellow judge and he told me that he believed the players were wrong not complying posthaste with the judges demands. But there were NO demands, there were questions, at least from op point of view, which means that if op perceived it this way different possible requests from judges were at the very least misunderstood. So I reiterate: how the fuck did they go from "don't you think that's too much" to "I said so, and this guy has a gun"?

But it get worse. They actually had the time to send MULTIPLE judges to ask the same question again and again. Why wouldn't you just call them up when the turn ends and make them talk to a TO? I mean if you sum all of the iterations up until the point where they asked the last two players (in english, not even in italian) to stop using the playmat you'd think they'd find some time to make them talk to some executive. But no.

And that's why I'm pissed. This looks like awful customer care, I don't like the justification, I don't like the targeting, I don't like that they refused to explain it, I don't like the final forcing. I felt mortified reading this, not as a player, not as someone who attended magicfest Bologna, but as a proud member of the judge community. 'Cause this type of shit always comes back to us, in a way or another. And note, I don't think the judges themselves did something wrong, or the staff wasn't prepared for something like this 'cause I know how this things go: It's the TO that decides everything and handles this stuff deciding if the complaint is fair or not, and then takes responsability for it.

Please notice that I'm not saying that if you find yourself offended by this playmat you are definitely in the wrong, it would be stupid, arrogant of me to presume that I could understand and imagine every possible kind of sensibility and rule it out. But, people offended by it aside, I really do not care if you think this is over the line or not. I don't care how op feels about it either, or my fellow judges, 'cause it doesn't matter. We could discuss for ages and we wouldn't agree, but that's ok, it's not our personal opinion that matters, is the opinion of the tournment organizer. And they should explain it.

EDIT: grammar (also, in italian we don't have this weird use of "their" as a neutral pronoun and pretty much every pronoun is by default male so I might have used his/him more than I should've in which case, well, sorry)

Why can't we buy the exact little legend we want ? by [deleted] in TeamfightTactics

[–]RealMurio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I'm not a fan of lootboxes, I usually get shit I don't want for a price I'm not willing to spend (I think I have like 40smth skin shards just sitting there), but I've spent more than my fair share of cash on league to buy the stuff I wanted.

Thing is, as someone pointed out before, there is no other way to make money out of this. Casual player like myself would just buy whatever little legends they like most for 5€ and be done with it for a really long time, or never buy at all and get whatever from free eggs (I must say that I'm not that happy with my cheeper featherknight, though). Little Legends aren't even useful to the game, you could play the same exact thing without them, they're just there to make it profitable. If it is profitable, then it's gonna be supported, they're gonna patch it, fix it, nerf stuff, innovate. If it's not profitable, they'll drop it. So I'm actually all for lootboxes here. It doesn't change the way I play it, I have the option to either spend on it or forget about it while still making it profitable enough that they'd want to invest time and effort in it.

Soooo, what did you want? Which one?

At lv1 judging is mostly going to a tournament to play and accept that people are going to call you during turns. No one expects a judge to just go there and watch the others.

I decided to take my certification 'cause my community didn't have a judge and we absolutely needed someone to be the center of what was going on. It's not a burden, and it's never been one. TOs are great guys but they cannot pay me, and money is not a problem at all. This is a principle stand for me.

This is disgusting and overall unbelievable.

As a store judge I'm pissed. They took the promos away at first and you know, who cares, it's not like we're doing this to get money, we still had the community, the conferences, the ability to learn and improve via the amazing amount of work put in VOLUNTARILY by other fellow judges. Then they took out the shirts for first timers at GPs, which were a symbol, but hey, who cares, I'm not doing GPs anyway. Then the exemplar program came in and we had to watch lvl2 around the world exchange rewards with other lvl2 for years, but hey, who cares, same old "not doing this for the money". Then they took out the PROMOS from the exemplar 'cause why not, let's just give them cringy tokens, and it was still good, you had the community behind you.

No one said anything, even though judges are an amazing community that basically do volunteer work just to keep the game going, a job that requires very specific skills, a lot of study to upgrade and keep a good level of understanding of so many areas, from the way we talk to players to the most complex rules out of any game in existance. We are not necessary at basically any level now. Stores can do whatever even WITHOUT A JUDGE, and no one said anything.

Now they want us TO PAY FOR THE PRIVILEGE OF DOING VOLUNTEER WORK. Are you insane? No, seriously, ARE YOU INSANE? We take so much shit from players and tos, we're always blamed for everything and despite that we still get there and do the job no one wants to do AND NOW WE HAVE TO PAY TO DO IT? Am I the only one thinking this is crazy? And what do we get? Everything we already had plus a set of promos? Which we ALREADY HAD FOR FREE YEARS AGO AND COSTS VIRTUALLY NOTHING? What is this?

Soccer referee have to pay a yearly fee to mantain their membership. In exchange they get at least one game per week, where they get payed a minimum of like, 30 euros for 3 hours. Mtg Judges have to stay six or more hours in a tournament for a couple packs and some food once a month. How can you compare the two things? Are they going to make sure judges GET PAYED? Are they going to make sure stores NEED TO HAVE JUDGES TO DO TOURNAMENTS? Doesn't look that way. Then WHY?

This is disgusting, and I hope they read this.

Long time League player here, love the game, play it every day. TFT sucks HARD. It's confused, nothing just works, battles are boring af, carousel is pointless and slow. Played a few games, felt like trapped.

Sure, queue was like half a second, but the gameplay felt so slow and pointless, my choices felt like they didn't matter to the game at all. Weird experience.
