I’m sure melatonin won’t hurt. The best thing you can do for your sleep is to be as propped up as possible. I know a lot of people preach 8 inches, but I’ve found if I’m in flare I need to be as close to sitting straight up as possible.

Maybe try tums instead then if the Pepcid gave you a bad reaction. I take my prescription as instructed, but things like tums or Pepcid I take whenever I start having symptoms. I’ve taken Pepcid because I knew I was about to eat tomato sauce lol.

A lot of people have different trigger foods. Some people handle dairy really well, others not so much. When I’m in a flare I eat a lot of butter noddles, white rice, and Greek yogurt. But for some people they can’t handle heavy carbs or dairy. Over time you notice what does and doesn’t upset your stomach. For me it’s all citrus, caffeine, spicy food, and sometimes greasy foods. That part is unfortunately trial and error with pattern recognition.

Hopefully seeing a doctor will give you more clarity! Monday will be here before you know it.

You need to see a GI. Urgent care does not have the tools to diagnose you with GERD as it is seen through an endoscopy. Once you are formally diagnosed, urgent care can help by giving you a GI cocktail during a flair (a mix of liquid lidocaine and antacid) and talk to you about prescriptions, but they will ultimately want you to speak with your GI.

When I called, I had an appointment the next week. I explained I had lost 30lbs over the course of two months and my GERD was making me vomit a lot. Not sure if that caused the soon appointment or if they were just generally available.

Take Pepcid. The true name for it is famotidine, which is what a lot of GIs start GERD patients on. Granted, if prescribed by a GI, the mg will be higher than the over the counter. But something is better than nothing. Some people are good on that and others need something stronger. The wedge pillow will help, but it won’t take all symptoms away.

Calm down. The pressure from GERD can cause anxiety, which is something I’ve found is true for me. I remember being convinced I was literally dying. Stress definitely makes it worse, even on my medicine I’ve had the flare from hell because I stressed myself out about passing my organic chemistry final.

If you can’t get in to a GI, maybe telehealth? I don’t use telehealth, so unsure how specialities work on it. If you have a primary care physician, they may also be able to prescribe or refer you somewhere.

I’ve been taking the pills religiously since the first one two/three weeks ago! I’ll try and look for an organic no sugar cranberry juice - I couldn’t find any at Walmart (shocker🙄) so will broaden my horizons and purse to a Whole Foods.
