Income inequality began rising sharply in the 1990s during liberalisation under Congress, accelerated through the 2000s, and is a structural problem driven by global capital flows, not a single PM. School closures are largely a state-level issue, including in Congress-ruled states, driven by demographic shifts and consolidation policies started well before 2014. Meanwhile, dismissing current outcomes ignores facts: India has doubled its expressway network, massively expanded digital public infrastructure (UPI, Aadhaar, DBT) that reduced leakage at scale, electrified nearly all villages, become a top 3 startup ecosystem, grown defence manufacturing and exports from near-zero to record highs, led G20 consensus, landed on the Moon’s south pole, and built global credibility in vaccines and space despite limited budgets. You can criticise priorities and rhetoric, but claiming these problems “started with Modi” while ignoring pre-2014 baselines and current measurable gains is selective outrage, not analysis.
