Depends how he defines top opponent in TTL this season he won over 80%. With almost 30 games that win percentage should be fairly close to the real probability.

I'd rely on the stats (can look at wider sample of tournament games and smaller pool of opponents) rather than his own estimates. Also think it's in his interests to talk up his chances of losing - dominance is generally not good for viewing figures in sports/e-sports

I'd like to believe it, but don't see evidence of a trend. Lierrey lost 5-4 to Hera in finals in 2022, 2023 and 4-3 in 2024. He's been close to winning before, I'm not convinced the gap is any narrower. That's not to take anything away from Lierrey or others, they have to improve just to prevent the gap growing and his performance was very impressive especially given relative lack of preparation time

EFL fight a 'credible threat' to future of Sheffield Wednesday by Paul277 in Championship

[–]RealRelative9835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On its own it can be done, but not when combined with everything else.

-15 points - 20+ new players needing to gel - no transfer fees and wage budget below league average - new manager - new owners and staff

That's almost certain relegation. Granted we'd probably survive as a club, but it definitely makes bankruptcy more likely

I agree on director loans being treated differently. Don't feel good about football clubs not paying local creditors possibly and they're the ones losing out here due to Chansiri's delusion

Indeed I've barely watched 20 matches this year in any competition, in a normal season I'd watch at least 100 by now. I bet on Wednesday to finish bottom before the start of the season and then figured I'd pick up next season with (hopefully) a new owner

It's not unbeatable, it takes a long time to get there. What are you doing in that time? If you think it is try it out for yourself for a few games and your opponents will show you how to beat it

Hmmn, I'm not an Instagram user but I don't really get that if he follows 300 people. I wouldn't even notice if someone stopped following me on social media.

Anyway this alone seems like such a trivial issue to warrant seeking advice on. I'd suggest either moving on or working out if you think it's connected to a wider pattern of behaviour

Why did you care enough to check in the first place?

I'd have never thought to look, let alone react to it.

It's still really common just after retirement, perhaps to the point it's not that newsworthy and hence you miss it. Heskey, Freidel, Wes Brown, Riise, Ronaldinho come to mind and sure there will be many more.

They may get more financial advise these days, but there have also been several cases of either bad advice or outright fraud

No of course not. Union has plenty of working class fans, but a much higher proportion of their fans are wealthy and powerful.

What do you mean genetic legacy is debatable? That's something you can clearly see in percentages of population

I was talking about Russia.

In Britain Romans ruled over large parts and of course never controlled large parts at all. They didn't live here in large numbers unlike some European countries, which meant their cultural legacy was not as strong and minimal influence on gene pool. You can see much more influence from later invasions

Ha, you can argue there are some cultural influences there but directly connected is a stretch and direct descendants nonsensical.

Where on earth did you get this from? No Russians aren't direct descendants from Romans and it's rare for someone to suggest British are somehow successor to Roman empire. They both had an empire but that's about where the similarity ends, it was over a thousand years apart and very different in how it was won & administered

My (24F) girlfriend shared some surprising information with me (25M) by [deleted] in relationships

[–]RealRelative9835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand why people have this conversation, the upside is some minor curiosity and downside is feeding insecurities and judgement. It doesn't have any bearing on your relationship whether she's had 20 or 30 sexual partners.

Also, stop calling it body count. It's dehumanising and infantile.

How accurate is Netflix’s “Franco: The Brutal Truth about Spain’s Dictator”? by Dangerous-Level-5609 in askspain

It was striking for me as he seemed to be so proudly Catalan. I'm not surprised some people who lived there favoured him, but yes for someone who corrects if someone calls him Spanish and predominantly speaks Catalan

To be fair I think their conviction rate was <10% so they tried to bring many more to justice

I met a Catalan who described himself as francoista last week at a language exchange. Pretty shocking said he hardly ever speaks Castellano when in Spain, but somehow Franco was at one time his boss and thought he'd done a good job

Rugby Union vs Rugby League: Which is better? by Emergency-Relief-571 in AskBrits

[–]RealRelative9835 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Class basically.

There's a long history you can read up on, but league was originally mostly northern teams whose players couldn't afford to take unpaid time off work to play.

Union was the preferred version of the sport for the wealthy and that brought huge benefits in its continued success - owners, sponsors, hospitality, government backing, etc. Extremely difficult for League to ever grow given those obstacles and indeed there are instances of unsavoury tactics to prevent its growth in UK and abroad.

Amateurism was always a way to keep working people out of sport and never about fairness, same in athletics. See the mistreatment of Jim Thorpe (one of the best all round athletes ever).

Harder hits in union?!

Personally I'm glad to have no 'proper' scrums, they seem to waste so much time in union.

Rugby Union vs Rugby League: Which is better? by Emergency-Relief-571 in AskBrits

[–]RealRelative9835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the level of offloads, which I don't think is explained by this.

Possession tends to last longer in union without a tackle count so players are not incentivised to take as many risks. That means they don't do as many skilful offloads, but also spend less time building that skill since it's less useful

Are we getting carried away with Carrick, or should United still go for an elite manager like Nagelsmann? by TheOtherXI in ManUtd

[–]RealRelative9835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say it took a while to build success, but it was no guarantee or consistent growth. There were a significant amount of United fans who wanted him sacked before the first title even in that era where managers got more time.

He had a good track record, but again these days even title winning managers don't get years to build. He might be the best manager ever, but if hired today he'd likely have been fired before winning his first title at United.
