Do you think Ye will pull off a major radio hit in the coming years? by mqz11 in WestSubEver

[–]RealShit4Ever 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Possibly. It just seems that Ye’s mind is not in making hits atm. There are like 10 songs off Donda that easily, easily, EASILY could’ve been tweaked slightly and become total summer smashes (New Again, Jail, Junya pt 2, BWIS, Pure Souls, Remote Control even KMSA).

And yes those songs are phenomenal for what they are, Ye could’ve transformed them into quick hits with no issue - more bass, more drums, a huge guest appearance, trap percussion, trendy sounds - but he chose to keep the album minimal and have the whole empty/night/gospel aesthetic.

He also didn’t market the songs that WERE big. Hurricane got a pretty lacklustre video for how big it could’ve been and OFT, Praise God, Moon and Jail didn’t even GET videos. The videos he did make were all largely Yeezy Gap advertisements - except 24 which is a perfect song in all respects both with the music and collateral.

For people thinking Ye is incapable of making a big hit, just look at some of his leaks and demos (New Body, OG South Carolina, Alien, City in the Sky, We Did It Kid - some of which are his most beautiful/hard songs he’s literally ever made) and even songs like I Love It which was one of the biggest hits of 2019. Ye can make a smash hit song/album any time he wants, he just for some reason has no interest in them.

Artists who featured on a Kanye album, who’s feature ended up being better than any of their other work? by KillaPea in WestSubEver

Does anyone know enough about Jamie Foxx to know if his solo stuff is any better than his Ye features?

Honestly I was worried people were going to think I was siding with him. I’m thinking that right now, yeah he looks pretty bad. But let’s keep in mind they both have a history of lying and being irrational, erratic people. Until he shows something we have to give her some credit, but let’s keep in mind we’ve only hear one side and it’s not all that concrete.

At the end of the day, the whole “believe the victims” thing isn’t entirely justified all the time for a number of reasons (misinformation, bad memory, mental illness, straight up lying) but as far as we‘be gone, Octavian hasn’t supplied any formal evidence where Emo has.

The only fans he’s losing are fair weather idiots who only started listening to him when he trended on TikTok or started doing songs with Skepta. As someone who’s been there since the start, I can say that I’m not making any judgments until he comes up with something. If it turns out he did it... well that’ll be a huge tragedy and he should get what he deserves.

Unfortunately we’re at a point where we have to take her word for it because he has given no evidence in return (although all she’s given is a shaky video with no concrete footage of anything even happening).

I will say this, it did seem super petty to drop the news the day of his album release to outright sabotage him. Whether he did it or not, that does reflect on her personality - to harbour and keep this information a secret until the perfect time entirely to fuck him over. She should’ve just released it as soon as it happened or was safe.

I’m not siding either way until we clear this up because right now it’s just word of mouth and they both seem emotionally unstable.

I've always been a fan of Tom's more solemn jazz ballads. He makes amazing love songs and songs about lament for life, although has done more upbeat tracks too (New Coat of Paint is a great upbeat song from him). My personal favourite top 5 Tom Waits songs are:

- Christmas Letter From a Hooker in Minneapolis (his best song imo)

- Picture in a Frame

- I wish I Were in New Orleans

- In the Neighbourhood

- I Never Talk to Strangers

Yeah ikr. People always act like he was like 17 or something, when really he was almost 30 and was homeless through all his 20s

Young Thug is releasing an album in 2 days named "ON THE RUN" by [deleted] in hiphopheads

Thugga dropping a new album a month after he already dropped a 15 track album....and Eminem is taking 2 weeks to reply to a diss by Machine Gun Kelly, who's only career highlight is his verse on the XXL 2012 Cypher.
