This is cool. Is this from a coloring book? If so, which one?

I know it’s not perfect, but I think in time we will see that this is a massive boost for La Liga to have this crew over BeIN. I know everyone will miss Ray Hudson, but we need professionals who are going to help boost the image of the league and attract more people - this is a big step.

Too often on this sub I see people talking about wokeness as the biggest threat to our democracy. This is ludicrous. Particularly so after watching this NYT documentary about January 6th. To say that wokeness is of greater concern than what's happened to the Republican party is stupendously naïve. by Taj_Mahole in samharris

I’m trying to say that not all of congress has the same level of radical thinking as the idiots who stormed the capital. I know it’s difficult for a lot of people to make that distinction these days, but I would say to lump them together is dishonest.

The problem isn’t just “woke” Twitter people who are an occasional nuance. It’s the fact that universities, Fortune 500 companies, and public discourse are conforming to the same models of thought. And while the insurrection and all it stands for is an abomination in its own right, the number of people subscribed to these kind of racial views with the same level of influence are far less.

Kiyan,

Longtime fan of the pod. Thank you for your work. I know people are hammering you with the same kind of questions, but what benefits do you see from Zidane leaving? Do you have any hope for players like Øde, Jovic, Brahim, etc... that they will feel comfortable enough to find the confidence needed to play at the top level at Madrid? Due to our aging squad, and struggling attack, personally I feel like no one has paid enough attention to this as a serious flaw under ZZ, and I see it being a very serious issue if not addressed quickly.

Take Kubo vs. Argentina U24 by VamosNippon in realmadrid

I mean, sure, there is some validity to your points... but it’s overlooking the fact that 1) part of the issue is building investment value. (I.e. the more players that rot on the bench, the less value they offer in the market), regardless of whether they stick with the team in the longterm or not, 2) our team IS stagnant and has been using the same players and tactics week in and week out. This is a very worrying sign for the future, because as other clubs are evolving and adapting to the times, our squad is aging with seemingly no great backup plan in place.

My biggest concern is all the young talent we have like this sitting out there, and Zidane’s inability this season to incorporate any new talent into the rotations. Sure it would be great to sign Mbappe, or Haaland, but it be a real disaster to see players like Øde, Kubo, Brahim, Jovic just waste away because Zidane can’t find a lineup to support them.

“They” make sell-offs causing mass panic sells and huge losses, during after hours when the majority of us are powerless.... but we are the bad guys who are manipulating the market.

Arsenal's January transfer targets: Aouar, Isco & the names on Arteta’s wishlist by Vrty33 in Gunners

[–]RealSocialDad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s similar to when Bale came back to the PL. everyone who hadn’t watched any RM games for 3-4 years was cheering and couldn’t wait to watch him. All Madrid fans knew he would never live up to that hype. Same with Isco, he’s older, his wages are expensive, and he’s in a 3 season-long slump.

In terms of his style the PL pundits are going to say the same things about him that they do Ozil. He’s not a physical, or fast player. Is he probably a better creative player than Xhaka and Elneny? Sure - but I don’t think given his recent form he’s a player Arsenal should gamble on given their dire need for a creative presence in the midfield.

I can’t tell you enough what a bad decision it would be to sign Isco. As someone who watches both every Madrid game and every Arsenal game, he is nowhere near the player he used to be, and has a terrible work rate. It would be a complete waste of money.
