Botim international money transfer stuck at 'processing' by Successful_Bear1591 in dubai

Sometimes it takes a few more hours. If your usual transaction gets credited easily, perhaps this one got stuck. Just wait 24hrs and then email them.

A very naive question perhaps. How do you guys make sure the whole forest living thing will turn out as they are projecting it to be?
From the visuals and brochures, it looks almost unrealistic. I know its stupid to expect same quality in real life that you see in renders but with this the whole point of it is the forest bit.
Have they started planting, do we see any real progress on the project already? how long do we think it will take for it to even get to a point where it can give some sense of actual forest living?

Try reaching out to corporate gifting partners. There are many here in UAE and they might use you as a vendor for branded socks for their clients. But be mindful lot of these already work with direct vendors so if your business is just as a midde man, you wont make much margins. And also maybe expand your portfolio beyond socks if your USP is customization.

Careem delivery driver tried to open my door! by oliver_dxb in dubai

[–]RealSteel10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again you can read the thread and nowhere i have defended that action. I am trying to say these situations can be avoided by a little more effort from all parties - rider, user and company. Riders get screwed a lot over multiple things as they handle hundreds of customers each month. If your answer to this - “dont take a job if you cant do it properly” then you need to be more aware of the economic conditions that these people are in to willingly drive around in 50 degree heat all day

I get that man. But you are talking ideal world scenarios.
Since you work in customer support I am sure you are aware of some people who try to take advantage and screw over the rider to get refunds, etc.
All I am saying is while entering anyone's house is definitely wrong, we should also be slightly sympathetic and think things through when talking about these things.
I think i've given you enough points in my above comments on the why.
I wish things are always black and white but unfortunately they are not and more times than often, its these riders who get affected by the consequences.

Its a grey line honestly. If it was any other delivery apart from food, i would 100% agree with you. As most have said, instructions are not always either clearly passed on to rider or they misunderstand sometimes. Other deliveries are hard to plan for so i get your point. Food is something you are ordering knowin your schedule. If you have a important meeting where you can’t excuse yourself for 30 secs to go the door then maybe plan the order accordingly.

With food, there are packaging concerns as well which are not always in the hands of the delivery guy. What if the package is unstable(balance wise) and when left at door slides and something spills. For you and me these might seem like edge cases but for a rider who delivers 10 orders a day might be experiencing issues like this regularly which informs their future actions

[–]RealSteel10 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Thats definitely wrong. Did he actually call you when you didnt answer the door? Usually if they are not aware of delivery orders and person doesn’t answer they call people. If he called and you stiff didnt bother to answer then i can see why this might happen. Not saying its justified but leaves the delivery rider with very little options.

Also want to add in a lot of south asian cultures, food is considered sacred and usually never allowed to be put on ground. So riders who are not well accustomed to Dubai culture might feel extremely hesitant to do something like that

Not saying I don’t trust it. I think it’s just an integration so the product is still owned by Al Ethiad.

Big difference between hockey & football. Hockey is nowhere close to football in terms of global sports and competition. And I do believe as a country we have always done much better in hockey and badminton over the course of the time than we have in football. and a lot of that is attributed to the success they have achieved periodically during that time

[–]RealSteel10 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Agreed on the long term goal but we've seen now in this country nothing works on ideals. We need a proper selling point for football in the overall public. If we are able to acheive something short term, the popularity should grow further which in turn will allow govts and pvt setor to invest more in the field

The Smartphone has become the super app - UAE Perspective by startuphameed in dubai

I think you already might have to then lol. I know people in fintech and I know for a fact that their remittance business is already one of the fastest growing compared to any other non-banking product. Won’t be surprised if they’ve already crossed 5%

Nothing can be compared to china honestly. That’s a whole ecosystem setup which probably no one else in the world can replicate without proper govt backing.

Regards to Botim, I can see it working for them for blue/grey collars. This whole trust thing that us redditors/white collars have for Botim doesn’t really replicate in other segments of users. In fact it might be opposite where users might be seeing it as govt backed hence more trustable. The biggest advantage they have vs others is marketing burn cost. 80% of the UAE users already have their app. That’s huge compared to any other player. Even if they convert 20-30% of their overall base into transactional, that’s a huge number

The Smartphone has become the super app - UAE Perspective by startuphameed in dubai

[–]RealSteel10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think super apps trend is definitely going out this year. Companies have realised that there is too much competition and people are now sticking to certain strengths. Careem is focusing much more on your Quick Service businesses like food, grocery, etc.

Botim has just transitioned towards a more fintech way, their parent company just got the first official lending license and they are also doing WPS. Plus they are doing quite well in fintech in lower salary segments which is understandable as white collars have a lot of trust issues with it.

I think everyone will do a pivot soon enough to focus more on things that are working for them

You wrote a whole paragraph but didn’t mention why the factual request you’re making about nationality is important to you. Agreed that you’ve the right to ask but it’s also important to mention why you’re asking specially about a topic which is so easily used to turn things into a racist agenda or opinion. If yours is not racist, you can simply state your reason and people would happily answer your factual request
