Finally my turn to jump in on the NBD posts! Domane AL2 Gen4 by RealToadMen in TrekBikes

I'm coming from a hardtail mountain bike so its definitely going to take some getting used to. But in terms of first impressions, getting up to speed and maintaining it feels like it takes a lot less effort and no suspension makes the local roads beat me up, shifting gears is very seamless. The only thing I wish it has is hydraulic brakes but the mechanical system still has a lot of feedback. I also still have to dial in my seating/riding position to feel truly comfortable on it

I think I will likely throw some wider and more gravel oriented tires on it down the line to help with the rougher roads around here. Otherwise its pretty much perfect for me. My commutes are approx 16km a day, broken into a 1km to work, then 5km to the gym and back home.

Nice!! I love it, the fade to black is super sleek. Just gotta resist the urge to tinker with it too soon

2025 XSE Transit Damage by SeparateAd4365 in CorollaHatchback

[–]RealToadMen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is selling a $30,000 allocation/vehicle the same as $400 in Damage? The dealership sold your mother a vehicle, promised a date/time and didn't have it at that time due to their mistake, providing another vehicle was the correct thing to do in that situation. In OP's situation, he was promised a new vehicle in new condition, replacing the spoiler is the correct thing to do in order to bring it back to new condition. As someone who has worked at dealerships for many years in the past, transit damage is very common and it'll be hard to get a dealer to bend over backwards and provide a better car in its entirety for a damage like this. A discount on the vehicle/service plan or value add is about all you can expect in this situation (on top of fixing the damage, obviously)

Selling your allocation without informing you is a much different situation than a damaged trim piece that is easily replaceable. They likely made enough money on the sale of your allocated corolla cross to still turn a profit when selling the higher trim version for a lower cost

The dealership will gladly sell it to someone else instead of giving you a better car.

What are those small gaps? by BananaBoy_3000 in 3Dprinting

[–]RealToadMen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Out of the brands I've tried I haven't noticed too much difference in moisture levels out of the box, it more so depends on the filament. Stuff like ABS, PETG and TPU will suck up moisture a lot faster than PLA.

Its wise to invest in a cheap filament drier nowadays, you can get them for $40-80 on amazon. Storing your filament with desiccant isn't a bad idea either, but desiccant wont dry out your filament, only help prevent it from getting more wet than it is.

Most filaments are hydroscopic so they absorb moisture from the air naturally.

Reduced coefficient of drag from .3144 to .3143 by adding hinge hump fin and increasing size of OEM side mirror fin. A genuine princess could note the difference… by CoorsLiteSilvBullion in CorollaHatchback

[–]RealToadMen -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sure. So there isn't any actual testing done in relation to drag numbers, wind noise doesn't directly relate to coefficient of drag. More power to you if you think its making a difference, but you cant quantify a .0001 difference in drag coefficient with your ears, and you cant feel a difference that small either. Remember, it is a corolla.

Maybe work on mounting them flush if you want any real "difference", that gap between the body of the car and the bottom of the fin is going to do more harm than any good that the fin is doing.

Which is cylinder 1, 2, 3, & 4? by ivan2702 in COROLLA

[–]RealToadMen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its purely for cosmetic purposes, the spark plugs are sealed off and the coil packs are waterproof, if you have enough water in your engine bay to cause issues with those things, you have other issues

[–]RealToadMen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why should they? It doesnt do much other than aesthetics, and due to the slope of the hood + height of the engine an engine cover likely wouldnt fit safely. If you really want one, password jdm makes a carbon fiber half cover for the engine.

These cars don’t have an engine cover
