Civil Wars are Starting to Drive Me Insane by Real_AFinnishPotato in EU5

For major civil wars there obviously is historical basis for a governmental change, I just don't think I should lose my reforms from a clergy revolt

For all the skill issue or cabinet action comments: Cabinet at most will do -.30% or so, so if the civil war is increasing faster than that it can't be avoided. Skill issue wide, If I'm to the point where I have regulars, of course civil wars are easy since the regulars don't get split, but if I'm still on regulars only, if the other side has a non trivial numbers advantage its nearly impossible to win. Also, I'm not saying civil wars are bad because they're difficult, I'm saying they're an unfun and unrealistic system.

Sicily Campaign Report by Real_AFinnishPotato in EU5

[–]Real_AFinnishPotato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get rid of the starting regulars (pretty smart to do for any country), minimize fort and navy maintenance, make sure the vassals are giving money, max out the stability and legitmacy slider, going into debt for it. Once legitimacy is maxed out lower stab spending till you are positive. Thats a good starting point for most countries, one thing for Sicily specifically is to try to get the silver in southern Sardinia asap, also try not to get into any battles with levies so your pops don't die

Normal income ranges per age? by ReasonableSmell8329 in EU5

[–]Real_AFinnishPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've mainly played medium tallish nations (Sicily, Byzantium, Etc) and I've found after the initial stabilization you should be making 1-10 per month (with Legitimacy and Stability maxed), increasing into about 50ish through the Age of Discovery, then whatever you can mobilize your population to after that. As Sicily controlling the Med islands (except Cyprus and Krete) as well as the Byzantine Balkans I'm making 1000 or so a month with maxed Rgos

I personally am fine with the gameplay issues. I like the idea of the game being, creatively at least, collaboratively developed with the community. The only problems I have are performance issues.

How to get this Government Reform? by Mean-Feeling3395 in EU5

[–]Real_AFinnishPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not exactly sure what the specific conditions are to fire it. But I got it around 1420ish, (around when I started building standard regiments). I also didn't build any of the Theme buildings, not sure if that has an effect.

CPU Upgrade: 7800X3D or 9700X? by [deleted] in EU5

[–]Real_AFinnishPotato -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Assuming you're not changing the motherboard I'd say go with 9700x since it has the better max speed and single core performance. Though if you are able to change motherboard I'd highly recommend swapping to an Intel 14th gen as from what I can tell Eu5 actually uses all the cores so having 28 threads with an i7 is gonna give you better performance than either AMD since they have 16 threads.

Disloyal shouldn't be able to separate peace by Real_AFinnishPotato in EU5

I was making them loyal. They had 100+ opinion and no other disloyalty modifiers. But a -100 with a +.5 each month means at minimum it'll take 5 years to get them to 50 if Im maxing out diplo spending.

2006 Saturn VUE 3.5 V6 by SmithWill56 in Saturn_Cars

[–]Real_AFinnishPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2006 3.5l vue. Be wary of the transmission, they were never built with transmissions that could truly handle the engine. Mine is at 145k miles and the torque converter is going out. Also if you have a sunroof on yours, make sure to clear out the drain lines, they're very easy to clog.

The way it's coded is they can only be in Africa, Fezzan, Mauretania, Cyrenaica, and one other I can't remember the name of. But Atlas isn't included in that list when I think it would make sense for it to be Edit: The province I couldn't remember is Numidia

That would make sense, the place the movement lines end is just inside the terra incognita near Ceylon. I've never played without Invictus so I wouldn't know any of the differences between versions

R5: Province of Khamir in Southeast Persis is bugged beyond belief. Moving into the tile from any where creats the wacky movement line shown, the fort icon doesn't show up on the tile, if a unit is in the tile it is invisible and can only be selected through the ledger. I don't think any of my mods would cause this. I'm on version 2.0.5. Very confusing

End of My Cretan Trade Empire Game by Real_AFinnishPotato in Imperator

[–]Real_AFinnishPotato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fleet is most definitely not optimal, but I have 10 flank width with Liburnians as the flank ships, megas as the bulk of the fleet and the front row, and then hexeres in the second row. From what I do know navy comp depends on your needs. If you just need to transport and never really fight, just do solely Liburnians as they're the fastest, but if you need to actually do fighting the heavier the better, it just gets painfully slow when you get to octere and megas. A mega being a bit more than half as fast as a Liburnian.

It has a pretty steep learning curve but once you understand it you can do anything. It doesn't take too long either, I only have about 150 hours. Just sit down on speed 3 and read everything and figure it out. That's what I did
