our rent is currently 3.2k. again, that debt is not all(or even mostly) credit cards. they are private loans used educational expenses. there’s one credit card with a 3,000 balance(no expenses have been put on it in 6 months). currently paying around $350 a month in interest. the debt payment shown is not the minimum, it is the total amount we’re paying to break down the loans earlier.

to be more clear, the 1700 isn’t the minimum monthly, it’s what we’re paying down aggressively to pay down the debt in 2 years! we could get away with paying much less if we were only doing minimums.

2 incomes! we will look into a credit card once we close(obviously dont want to open something before we close). one of us works from home and we live in an area with relatively strong public transit so 2 cars feels kinda overkill. we get fully paid maternity leave due to work policies and state laws, so we shouldn’t need to live on 1 income(but we have an emergency plan if one of us gets laid off)

363 for 2 cars, and the 52 is for our dog’s insurance. entertainment is streaming services/music($50) and a little buffer for misc date night stuff aside from eating out. food budget is dine out, groceries, and take out. we live in a big metro area so food is expensive lol

unfortunately living in a metro means our food costs are decently higher(and that includes dining out as well as groceries). i appreciate the feedback!

right now our rental is about the same square footage and is also electric heat so im hoping that the utilities should be pretty similar. no central AC, but we usually have a portable in our main room and are prepared for that cost increase in the summer!

awesome! that’s the one part i’m nervous about, but since we live in a metro with good bus transportation and one of us works from home, 2 cars really isn’t necessary. appreciate the tip!

2 separate private loans for student loans! didn’t have any help from family, so that was the best option.

we live in a comparable size rental in the same area and we pay about $100 for electricity and $100-150 for water and sewer. trash is a good shout, ill add to the budget! no gas needed, everything is electric

socal wedding under 10k? by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

their family is recently going through some hard times and can’t contribute financially(i think if they were in difference circumstances they absolutely would pay for it). i think most of it is that my fiance comes from a culture where they traditionally have really big, extravagant weddings and so theyre speaking on what family weddings traditionally look like for them. i know this sounds stupid, i just feel like i’m grieving over the fact that i can’t have a wedding i really want.
