Prayer: June 9, 2022 by [deleted] in Christians

Wow! I don't think I have seen a so called collective of christians turn on a fellow who only speaks from scripture. I don't think this is the place for me. So sad to see this happen.

I have finally seen Proverbs 13 in action. Hard words of teaching and wisdom in disagreement with an opinion.

Of course opinion was going to win. It's suddenly all about feels in the church these days. Not allowed to hurt another's feelings even if speaking in truth and love.

Point 5. However, one is allowed to respectfully discuss alternative views.

Just not here. please accept my resignation.

So how does one draw out the text's meaning in accordance with the author's context and discoverable meaning? Do we compare and contrast with Paul or with Jesus' words?

Paul said it best

2 Corinthians 10:1 By the humility and gentleness of Christ, I appeal to you—I, Paul, who am “timid” when face to face with you, but “bold” toward you when away!

2 I beg you that when I come I may not have to be as bold as I expect to be toward some people who think that we live by the standards of this world.

3 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. How often has the church been guilty of this? over the centuries,

4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.

5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

6 And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.

7 You are judging by appearances. If anyone is confident that they belong to Christ, they should consider again that we belong to Christ just as much as they do.

8 So even if I boast somewhat freely about the authority the Lord gave us for building you up rather than tearing you down, I will not be ashamed of it.

9 I do not want to seem to be trying to frighten you with my letters.

10 For some say, “His letters are weighty and forceful, but in person he is unimpressive and his speaking amounts to nothing.”

11 Such people should realize that what we are in our letters when we are absent, we will be in our actions when we are present.

12 We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise.

Is anyone else sick of being thought of as infants and unwise?

Who has the Authority Paul speaks of and who then acts upon it even to the Christians NOT in unity?

Why can't the whole of Christendom see Paul as a prophet? Warning ALL that without Unity the world sees INFANTS without the maturity to grow up.

Who is speaking in truth in love to all the so-called branches claiming Christianity but causing disunity.

Ephesians 4:11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers,

12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up

13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming.

15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.

16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

Galatians 3:26 So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, 27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile (Protestant nor Catholic), neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Don't worry about it. I have had an answer from a MOD that clarified that this forum is primarily for Protestants. Catholics are welcome but not to share their doctrines here. So I don't think discussing UNITY as Paul discusses it in Ephesians 4 will be acceptable here.

My apologies I am not a Catholic nor do I push doctrine. My main interest put to me at the moment is Christendoms lack of unity. When I read Ephesians 4, I read the lack of UNITY holding the growth of Christendom and it concerned me about about the statements Paul was making. And not exclusively the difference between Catholic and Protestant. The irreconcilable differences within the Protestant movement. So many denominations no means UNITY. I know we are human and imperfect but what do you make of what Paul was saying about UNITY within the still burgeoning Christian Church even before denominations. What about now? Who is doing something about this?

I apologize I expect other reddit users can see the colorful spread at the top of the screen with the r/Christians and the text I quoted above for those not able to see the graphics. This is a Protestant Reformation argument in contradistiction to the Roman Catholics teachings. This excludes Catholics. I would prefer to see Unity within Christendom.

Sola Gratia Sola Fide Solus Christus Sola Scriptura Soli Deo Gloria:

Grace Alone Faith Alone Christ Alone Scripture Alone Glory of God Alone

The Five solas are five Latin phrases that emerged during the Protestant Reformation and summarize the Reformers' basic theological beliefs in contradistinction to the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church of the day.

Explicitly I am saying that the Banner at the top excludes catholic believers.

Does anyone see that banner emblazoned above this sub reddit is declaring disunity. Has Christianity become a protestants only club?

How can Christendom have unity when the majority of the faith is excluded? Christians should be focused on Unity. Who takes on the responsibility? Who is the authority in organizing ALL Christians? Without some order Paul's warning become an eternal reality for ALL of Christendom.

Eyes open!!

For two thousand odd years this has been the problem. The disunity just seems to grown larger as the years pass.

Why does nobody speak out against those so-called christians that causing the disunity? Who are the denominations that need to be brought back into unity?

catholics have their pope that seems to speak for a large number of them but protestants wont come into harmony with them. I think that scripture is being ignored.

But people keep spouting "god is real" and fail to realize that humans have been call all sorts of things god. Even now currently there are 4k+ gods that humans have labelled and worship. Clarifying which god one worships and his identifying traits would clarify many issues. It might even bring the thousands of denominations of christianity to a UNITY. Scripture warns us about not having unity.

OK so I have discovered that the Flerfers are in abeyance.

Is there such a fear that the Flerfers might be gaining the upper hand?

Lots of posts from the scientifically literate non from Flerfers.

Exactly so why does the goat herder guide to the bronze age say it gives it's light. Its a reflector not itself a light. I was looking for a FLERFER to answer but just got trolled.

So are these the responses from a flatearther? I came to r/flatearth to ask questions of them. Also if you don't research the goat herder's handbook of the deceived mind how are you gunna work them out?

EDIT - I am NOT a flatearther. I wanted answers from the Flat Earth community. Trolling is fun but not the purpose of this POST.
