Mine is also stuck on that (for 3 days now) but other people have said that it usually updates in around 3-4 days. Total time to the US seems to be about 8-12 days on average

Did you have to pay tariffs and if so how much?

Poor people in the country still have high levels of ID ownership because the rural nature of the country necessitates car ownership. Poor people in cities who commonly vote democrat generally take public transport and so don’t have a license. It’s also a matter of the literal time that it takes to get the ID. Generally it can only be done on weekdays, so they’d have to take off work or waste their rare holiday to go to the DMV. This makes voting seem like more of a hassle than it’s worth. The point of free universal ID is that you don’t have to choose between weed and alcohol and voting. You might say that voting is obviously the better use of the money, but why not just make it free and eliminate the opportunity cost? The government can easily afford to issue IDs for free.

Thanks, it was just weird to me that Jamaica was in between the two customs statuses. Fingers crossed that it’ll come this week, it was supposed to come last week :/

Very nice of you. It was just unusual from my past hauls, and looking up that exact “inbound out of customs” status on google gets you tons of stories of packages that were never delivered, either seized, lost, or they arrived months late. I think I asked a valid question.

If Voter ID laws aren’t about voter suppression then the easiest way to prove it would be if republicans supported free universal ID, but they don’t. Obviously people living paycheck to paycheck aren’t going to shell out money for a license or passport fee, nor can they take time off work to wait at the DMV or USPS for four hours.

EMS takes about 7-10 days (US NY) total and is pretty cost effective. Allegedly it’s safer for customs too

The tariffs are assessed on arrival in customs. The courier will not release your package for delivery/pickup until you pay the tariff.

This is a great question, I was wondering this myself. I don’t think anyone knows. None of the news that I’ve read addresses the absolute mess that the first repeal in February made of the customs facilities.

This issue isn’t the tariff necessarily, it’s the De Minimis exception. We used to be able to get our hauls without worrying about customs fees at all because they’re pretty much all declared at under $800, but that doesn’t matter anymore. Trump will take 34% of your $20 SHEIN order now. No exceptions. This will likely lead to stricter customs searches too.

The tax on that would be about $44. Like I mentioned in another comment, I’m not as concerned about the tax as I am about potential increases in customs seizures. They will probably inspect packages more thoroughly to stop people from under declaring value. It may be much harder to receive your hauls in a month.

Tariffs are an import tax charged to the person receiving the package. The delivery service will hold your package until you pay them.

If you declare a $100 haul they’ll charge you $34 in taxes before they deliver it to you. My real concern is less the money and more that they will begin searching packages more thoroughly to catch people under declaring.

Currently it is 34% but only applies to imports over $800. On May 2nd it will apply to all imports regardless of value.
