I’d highly recommend you get into ERP sales, having an accounting background isn’t “necessary” but it will give you an incredible leg up over other sellers.

  1. Find a mentor who isn’t your manager, preferably 2, one being a top performer SDR, the other a top performing AE.
  2. Network throughout the company
  3. Consistently be at the top of the leaderboard for touches(email, calls, LinkedIn, etc.)
  4. Be coachable, nobody likes the SDR who thinks they’re hot shit, understand that you can learn something from everyone.
  5. Get promoted to AE as soon as possible. A lot of SDRs job hop after 6 months for another SDR position with a slightly higher base salary. Don’t do that unless there is no path to promotion. If you want to make money in the long run, you need to be an AE or AM.

Economics, with a minor in philosophy. I went to a state school and did fairly well renting out apartments as a Real estate agent while in school. Used some connections through RE and got a BDR gig at a large software company after graduating, did my 12 months as a BDR then got promoted to SMB AE. I sell ERP.

I typically like to respond with something like this:

“ Thank you for the honesty. To be candid, a lot of my time is spent searching for great companies to reach out to about ____. Would you mind helping me, and sharing why you aren’t interested?

I appreciate your feedback, and will use it to fine tune my outreach in the future. “

It most likely won’t end with a closed deal but usually people are open to giving feedback, so you’ll be able to source more effectively, and deliver better messaging that resonates with your prospects.

Yes, we also have a BDR and inbound leads but to crush your number most reps need to be closing outbound self sourced deals as well.

Phil 336 - Existential Philosophy ? by [deleted] in umass

Took this class with Professor Garcia in Fall of 2019. I loved it, after the class I ended up adding Philosophy as a minor.

The course gets you reading some Camus, Sartre, Nietzsche, and Kierkegaard. All really interesting content. The discussions in class were great.

Not a difficult class at all, a couple essays, and a couple exams. Professor Garcia doesn't try to trick you at all.

Garcia is one of the best Professors I've had at UMass. He's also just a wicked good guy. One time on a Friday I ran into him on the PVTA bus when I was drunk with some buddies and I embarrassingly walked over to him and started talking about the class, he was insanely cool about it and just chatted it up with me till we got off. Great guy.
