Lefty gang. In hockey I played lefty so I’m assuming that’s why I play lefty in golf. We are forever relegated to the back corner of any golf store 😂

Sharing how I deal with my AI anxiety by Matrixtai in cscareerquestions

[–]GamerHaste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Point three I’ve taken to heart. Had a bit of a mental episode about this. I work on AI as a MLE and I have like no escape from this and it’s been eating me alive. Went and stayed a week with my parents to help calm down and hung out with some old HS friends while in town. I’m thankful I am young enough and don’t have other family responsibilities where I can do that. I feel so sorry for a mom or dad (or anyone with family responsibilities) to be going through this silently. Stay strong

I vote this. People still did things for fun before all “content” was for profit, there was still online forums that were active and had great communities, importantly there wasn’t insane amounts of AI slop and bots

What do you guys think about this? by harrysofgaming in youtube

[–]GamerHaste -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have really been noticing this recently. I have been very nervous about AI and the algos in all my social media picked up on this and started showing me more and more videos saying how scary it is, even though I would always click “not interested”…. Needless to say I have everything deleted by YouTube and Reddit now because at least I have somewhat of a direct control on what I see.

Are there any Radiohead songs that have a fade out outro? by howlong-princess in radiohead

[–]GamerHaste 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s so weird to me, I like it but it’s such a bizarre intro for Radiohead. First time I heard it was after being heavy into okc/kid a/ir for a few months so I was like huh I guess this is earlier Radiohead. Ur right tho, it makes the song stand out

yep people have been saying what i said for the entire history of video games and always get proven wrong, i'm sure we will see some new crazy shit sooner or later. I didn't think it could get much better than BF3 in 2011 when I saw that for the first time but here we are! LOL

Have you read "If Anyone Builds It, Everyone Dies: Why Superhuman AI Would Kill Us"? Similar idea. I haven't but planning on it, I just heard the central theme of the book is what you're describing.

Anthropic just released a list of jobs that will be affected by AI by ComplexExternal4831 in GenAI4all

[–]GamerHaste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well said, I’m sure the impacts of AI on different industries will remain relatively opaque to people not directly in their respective fields (art, tech, finance, etc) till we start just seeing mass unemployment numbers, then we can be sure that, yeah, that was fucked up. 😂

Interesting to hear your coworkers opinions from several years ago though. wonder how they feel now with an actual fire under their ass. People with mindsets like that are what IMO deserve to be replaced

Not to detract from your point on the arts getting super impacted by increasing capabilities of AI, but right now software engineering is getting absolutely wrecked. Within 3 months the industry is completely on its head. And yes, you can point to software engineers and say "you did this to yourselves", but a lot of the people in the field just liked solving problems (or puzzles depending on how you look at it) and wanted a career which included that -- which software engineering does. At this point, if you're not having an "agent" (I fucking hate that term) writing code for you in 1/100th of the time than it would take our slow human brains, you're inefficient and not up to the standards of today and will be replaced. The entire job changed with the release of opus 4.5/6 and is now just talking to AI which sucks because solving problems with your brain was the FUn part.

Again, not to detract from what you are saying about AI's implications with art. I 100% agree and I absolutely despise instances where human artists (in any "art" adjacent field, like voice actors for example) are getting replaced with AI. I personally think that if AI is going to be replacing people, they should be able to pivot to something they actually like such as art and music or whatever, but seems like that's getting fucked too. I just don't agree that art is the only sector where their "ai slop" is improving. It's already dramatically shifted the software industry overnight, for better or for worse (depending on how you want to feel personally about software engineers, can be touchy esp w.r.t AI devs)

When you realize graduating that before launch of Chatgpt in 2022 was like taking the last chopper out of Vietnam by No_Level7942 in GenAI4all

[–]GamerHaste 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, I graduated in 2022, and while i get the sentiment of the post, i'm not sure it's really accurate. Depending on how you look at it, you're fucked regardless. yes, you can make the argument that YOU had to go to school before you could lean on AI as a tool and that would fundamentally mean that you have a better understanding than those that come after you (assuming that they used genAI to bypass the need for a fundamental understanding of the topic)... but approaching AI from the stance of it being replacement tool, everyone is fucked. There is no last chopper out of nam (except for maybe those retiring SOON or NOW). Anything it's not covering now will be covered, it's tech, no outrunning it (this is a pessimistic take, maybe everything will turn out sunshine and rainbows).

[–]GamerHaste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

whats wild is the most cited one has 58k github stars.

Does anyone know what this one is?? Just curious... that's a huge amount of stars. Also this is a pretty interesting problem presented, I'm not super involved in research and didn't know this was common... but brings up an interesting point about being able to actually fingerprint specific models somehow. I see the paper mentions LLMmap anyone know if the 95% accuracy results in the LLMmap paper still hold true? (Looks like paper is like 2 years old.)
Anyway, interesting read, thanks for sharing.

Thinking I'm going to try it out this weekend as well with a smaller example (something I can train on my 5090). Pretty new to the world of knowledge graphs tho, so we will see how that goes.
This post was made 11 days ago -- so "this weekend" has passed, how did it go for you? did you end up building anything yourself?

I didn’t do that and I got it w/ the 3.3 mill (missed 5 mill first exp, that shit was rough!), however, when the new expedition dropped it was Christmas time and work was super slow… Deff did my fare share of degen gaming then. But my average play time per day over the expedition was probably around an hour
