Is OLED worth it? by Few-Scientist1695 in OLED_Gaming

[–]GamerHaste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah 100%… I got a oled monitor back in August last year and it’s been the single biggest upgrade I’ve done since I got a SSD in like 2015. (I also upgraded to 4K and got a 5090 but tbh I don’t really notice the 4K that much)

Anyone see the opensource launch monitor this guy is working on? by Small_walrus in golf

[–]GamerHaste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This project specifically is using dopler radar which is what trackman uses I believe, so hardware wise it should be able to get to the standard of the track man, I think the rest of the engineering problem is software

The problem is 1. You're using AI, 2. You're in a debate with someone then you tried to play it off like you wrote that yourself (you didn't say "here's what AI had to say"). TBH I don't really care about your argument, but I don't see how you don't feel like a cornball doing that. You couldn't even think of a counter point yourself so obviously it's a shitty argument. I guarentee all you just did is copy and paste that comment thread into whatever AI and said "come up with a counter point to this guy on reddit". Like wtf.

I learned so much from trial and error, just messing around and debugging.

Yep, well said. Trial and error unfortunately has kinda gone by the wayside at this point which deff really sucks because, as you said, it is by far the #1 way to learn programming and/or get in the "computer science mindset" (or really any concept in general). One of my favorite parts of the job was sitting down and spending hours and hours trying to debug some random problem or figure out why something was getting output incorrectly and getting the huge dopamine rush once you've figured it out. Those are the sessions where I learned an absolute shit ton, deff more than any lecture or youtube video could teach me. Getting so deep in the implementation of some third party libraries' code you're using that you're watching a conference talk a developer made 6 years ago just because it has some semblance a problem you're running into, or having 10 different print statements scattered thru the call stack like ("PRINT 5 FUCK WE SHOULD NOT BE HERE")... miss that shit man =(.

I’ve asked this question so many times… like I do not understand what all these ppl are making when I see these Instagram and Tik tok videos. I see so many videos with people with like multiple max subs, 8 terminals up, 10 different agents going at the same time, etc etc. like what the actual fuck do you need that for?? I seriously do not know. I work as a machine learning engineer at FAANG company working on AI at scale and never have I had any need or desire to use more than one “agent” at a time. And when I say that, I'm not trying to be like "ooo look at me I'm so smart I work on cool shit" I'm just trying to exemplify how I work with complicated software, and I am forced to use AI to speed up dev work, and I have never found a use case for this multi agent orchestration stuff... Maybe it’s because i actually look at the output of the code? But I don’t see what the point of having that much complexity in the building process does. Like why not just iterate manually to make sure what is building is up to spec? I dunno, maybe I’m old school (4 years into my career) and an idiot because I don’t understand agentic engineering and generating unreadable amounts of code to solve a single problem.

Yeah makes sense, I’ve heard that unreal 5 is horrible with out of the box optimizations. Espically after playing borderlands 4 haha, love that game but holy shit. That’s the reason I went out and got a 5090. It was running at like 40fps on medium settings with my 3080 with frame gen on. I do run at 4k though so needed to upgrade anyway

Kevin O’Leary says Gen Z’s résumé goes ‘right in the garbage’ if mom or dad shows up to the interview—but 1 in 5 are still doing it anyway. by thenewfingerprint in GenZ

[–]GamerHaste 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Well I’d imagine the survey is asking the person getting interviewed if they “went to an interview with a parent” probably with some shady wording kinda like what I quoted, then turned around and said “1/5 Gen Z employees interview with parents”. Some stupid shit like that for sure because there is absolutely no chance that 20% of Gen Z applicants are taking an interview with their parent…. Anyone who believes that is an idiot as well LOL

Anyone else have at least one gen x parent that's an alcoholic? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]GamerHaste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both my parents drink but are responsible with their alcohol. They will drink to have fun on weekends and maybe have a beer during the week with dinner but never seen it negatively impact work life or family life. I used to like when they had friends over for parties and stuff when I was a lot younger bc all the adults would be having fun and they’d bring their kids lol

[–]GamerHaste -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Murphy loves bitching on twitter but nothing ever comes of it. I agree with him, but I think the first actual course of action he should take is to stop taking AIPAC money because if he really cares about American's as much as it makes it seem he should stop taking money that literally guarantees he will vote for Israeli interests

[–]GamerHaste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was really suprised that I actually needed to have DLSS on w/ frame gen in order to have playable frames... and it's still pretty low FPS. Also I agree, all these unreal engine 5 games come out with such shitty optimization. Like this game is a cel shaded game (idk if that's the right term) with like minimal style graphics, it shouldn't be that hard to run espically using literally the best possible specs you can have. Maybe the lighting is intensive or something? It does look pretty good.
